Even in quotes that's too much of a stretch. My first inclination was the word sophistry. But now even that would seem unfair to the sophomores of the world.
Well, I re-read WoodKirk's post and I missed this:

I've seen it all now. This deserves a soda. WoodKirk, if I meet you, I'd like to buy you a soda. You've managed to bring in the CIA to this discussion. I might faint if the assasination of JFK is next brought up.

Because it shows that we are what we believe. You believe the Bible is the most important, or only thing necessary. So you start your children learning the names of the books, then reading a children's Bible perhaps. An Orthodox or Catholic would see more value in the passed down tradition, the ancient formulations of our faith. While I would certainly have children's bible for Sarah, I would also rather teach her the Creed than teach her to memorize the names of the books of the Bible.
As she gets older, the Creed will be known to her and she can learn to understand what its parts mean. But she will have it memorized. No offense, but memorizing the books of the Bible I see as trivia. It won't actually be the seed to teach any meaning.

It was a warning. Havoc displayed how irrelevant he was months ago by claiming, among other things, that pretty much every extra-Biblical Christian writing till about 300AD was a fraud.
Woodkirk's wacky Theotokos argument, coupled with his KJV-onlyism, his acceptance of Foxes Book of Martrys as accurate history, and his obvious adherence to Jack Chick style "facts", are making him about as relevant to the overall discussion as a twig.

Sorry Becky :) I hate to be "indellicate", but it seems to me that horses are to blame for a lot of what goes on around here. It sure smells that way sometimes.

I realize it has its advantages, and I also know trivia isn't the right word. I wasn't thinking of the free lance preacher. I'm used to knowing beforehand what the day's lesson is.

My wife and I have a childish sort of competition in that regard. The pastor will give a verse and one of us invariably leans to the other and whispers "beat you".
Of course, when we are at a Catholic service, I can bookmark them weeks ahead of time (I'm not sure she has this figured out yet).

Bout as relevant as you are. Just my observations.
Do you not always attend catholic churches. What other kind of church do you go to.? And not to be offensive, but I have never (not an exaggeration) seen a catholic carry a bible into church on Sunday.
Last summer I had to go to a funeral of a Lady who babysat Charlie when I went back to work after he was born. She was catholic and a member of the church I attended at a child. In the pews were paperback pamphlets that I looked through, they had all the readings and mass responses for that month.
Do you beleive Priests are led by the HS when they give their messages? If so how do they do that if the message is pre determined years ahead of time.
Several times our old pastor got up one Sunday and said we would look at such and such next Sunday, the the next Sunday would come and he would say, I had the lesson all ready but the HS has guided me to such and such. And you know that message would always be something that we all really needed at that time.
Now you may scoff at this but if you knew this man, and could see how well the new message fit, you would believe I am and he was telling the truth.
