The Neverending Story
An ongoing debate on Scripture, Tradition, History and Interpretation.

Statesmen may plan and speculate for liberty, but it is religion and morality alone which can establish the principles upon which freedom can securely stand. The only foundation of a free constitution is pure virtue. - John Adams

I think all the kids turning to s#!t should wake up people, but then again not that many are willing to admit their kids have turned. I pretty much think it's hopeless, not from God's stand point of course, but hopeless that man will listen to anything God says too us now a days.

I just have to relate something that I heard the other night while driving my 13 year old and two friends home from a dance. (a nice one at a Catholic Church, so don't get all over me!) Anyway, they all go to a public school in a "nice" town in Mass. and the girls were talking about health class where they are learning about Aids at the moment. (that's another story) The teacher made a blanket statement about why they needed to learn about Aids and the blanket statement was "because you will all be sexually active some day.." - I am still fuming over this, but I'm glad I know how the school presents it as I had the opportunity to address the sexually active statement to these kids. I'm getting mad all over again just typing this out!

WHY?

So you don't believe in the rapture at all? BigMack

If by rapture you mean a time when Christ takes his church from the earth and then at a later time has his second coming, no. If by rapture you mean that Christ instantly changes his church from mortal to spiritual bodies at his second coming, then yes.

a primitive root; to ascend, intransitively (be high) or actively (mount); used in a great variety of senses, primary and secondary, literal and figurative (as follow):--arise (up), (cause to) ascend up, at once, break (the day) (up), bring (up), (cause to) burn, carry up, cast up, + shew, climb (up), (cause to, make to) come (up), cut off, dawn, depart, exalt, excel, fall, fetch up, get up, (make to) go (away, up); grow (over) increase, lay, leap, levy, lift (self) up, light, (make) up, X mention, mount up, offer, make to pay, + perfect, prefer, put (on), raise, recover, restore, (make to) rise (up), scale, set (up), shoot forth (up), (begin to) spring (up), stir up, take away (up), work.ords "went up" are translated from:

As you can see, the primary meaning is "ascend".

What I am discussing is whether the word is used in the same manner. To make something rise up is not the same as rising up yourself.

Hey Al. You want me to take over the daily readings in here while you're tending to your wife and new kid?

Anyone is welcome to do that on any given day. Thanks!

And don't forget the pope quotes. ;o)

Ok I read it. I just don't think, whether or not a person is pre-trib, mid-trib or post-trib matters much. I'm a pan-trib. It'll all pan out in the end. The subject don't excite me much anymore. :-)

Ditto, that.

Yeah that is the kind of stuff that caused me to pull my kids out and homeschool. I don't think parents can conteract 6 hours a day 5 days a week 9 months out of the year of this kind of crap. I don't care how much quality time you spend with your kids in between. So the blanket statement the teacher made is probably going to be true 99% of the time.

I thought catholics didn't believe in the rapture.

Rapture? What rapture? I was talking about the planes man. The planes were really cool!

Seriously. I'm not aware of any formal teaching on the issue. When I finish the race, all that will get straigtened out. If I dissapear in a "twinkling" or spend years fighting satan here on Earth and then get taken up (mid or post trib) or spend a second or a thousand years "suffering loss as through fire" or if I never notice any of the above and just wake up in Heaven - Who cares? I think I'm with Steven on this one. (Somebody throw ice water on that man's face... wake him up, wake him up!) "Pan Trib" - That's a good one.

I am truly sorry for my foul....typing:), but when looking at the kids today I could find no other word that fit. WHen I was typing the post I thought about it for a long time before I finally typed it. You know I usually don't use that type of word in my post. But nothing else fit:(

I also used crap in a post futher down in describing what is taught in schools now-a-days. Can you think of any thing better?

I know, I thought a lot about pulling them out but I have trouble with 5th grade math...

We do live a good Christian life (I think and hope) and God is a part of our lives every day. I give particularly my daughter a lot of credit as she has come home since 3rd grade telling me the stupidities that they are taught - the first one she picked up on was the "indian" vs. "native american" stuff. She understands some of the crap that teachers teach that isn't in the curriculum - we are conservative as well so that helps some.

I like to think that my kids are a good example to others in school- the other day I heard one of my daughters friends say to her (exasperated) "you always see the good in everything" - this was because my daughter wouldn't make fun of something (cheerleaders) all the kids were laughing at. It works out nicely because everyone wants to be my daughter's friend, so I don't feel so badly that I still have them in public school. Not sure on the youngest yet, he's still in 2nd grade.

BTW - although I am not a "tribulation" person, that whole thing reminds me of the Catholic "three days of darkness" belief. Similar in a lot of ways except it isn't the end of the world.

I do believe in some sort of tribulation, but I haven't done an indepth study as to how long it is, etc. I am aware that is the general time frame believed by many to be and wouldn't be surprised if it were.

We can keep it in the vernacular and still be accurate and colorful. Might I suggest "fecal greaseballs"?

No, I get the feeling that when al is gone, every day's reading will be from the Book of Matthew, chapter 1, roundabout verse 25.
