The Neverending Story
An ongoing debate on Scripture, Tradition, History and Interpretation.

Statesmen may plan and speculate for liberty, but it is religion and morality alone which can establish the principles upon which freedom can securely stand. The only foundation of a free constitution is pure virtue. - John Adams

Thanks for the level response, today and yesterday.

Translation, thanks for coming to our side NC's, but don't get the impression we'll do the same for you when Proud2BAmerican comes back on and makes fun of the Holy Spirit within you, we'll stay low just as we did before.

How about a little reassuring from your side. JH

I agree that that site is not an official Roman Catholic site or even a mainstream Catholic site.

Then we agree on this as well.

I don't think the average lay person or someone of another religion (or denomination) should be determining who is or isn't schismatic.

I calls 'em as I sees 'em. If you don't like it, feel free to ignore.

Yes, I put bassman on my list of "good NCs." I don't recall the episodes you are talking about, but I can promise that if you are offended by something, that I will join you in asking for an apology or at least a cease and desist. We often are not great judges of what offends others, so I might need your help to identify such.

Ok. I'm sorry for saying all those nasty things to catholics. I'm sorry to my sisters for pulling the plug of the TV back in 1976 when Bert Parks was just about to announce Miss America. I'm sorry for being banned from the Huskers message board. I'm sorry for just being me. Does that about cover it? Repentance is a wonderful thing. :-)

I only have one word to say: filioque

Yeah, what's up with that?! Why did you guys have to go and add something to a perfectly good creed?! ;-)

Oh, and do you see how Dr. Z and a couple of other pundits are hinting about Rams-Pats having the potential to look like Bills-Giants? As a former NJ boy and Giants fan, I'd love it!

creatures lurk in the dark of night?

I believe it is "Who knows what evil lurks in the hearts of men?" Dad still has a reel-to-reel with a bunch of old radio shows. (I could be dreadfully wrong)

Do "Independent Fundemental Non Protestant Millitant Bible Beliveing Baptists" drink alcohol? 'Cause if we ever meet, I want to buy you a beer.

Only for medicinal purposes, but I haven't been feeling well lately.... :)

It's not an addition, just an amplification. By the way, the filioque is optional in Eastern rite Catholic Churches. So it shouldn't be an obstacle to re-union.

You used to be a Giants and then what? You moved?

I hope the game is entertaining, as I am still escaping with my wife to go see it on the big screen at a converted movie theatre/bar and grill.

Please, I'd appreciate it. I've had my eye on a few different hard copy reference materials, but can't yet afford them.

I have indicated several sites which may be worthwhile.

Bible Study Tools

Bible Gateway

RSV (With Apocrypha)

Latin Vulgate

NAB

Good luck.

It's funny how when most people just see Mack they jump and ask how high up when their in the air, just because he is big. But he is really a teddy bear:) and has only been in one fight since we got married, when we were young and stupid.

Well, there are definitely more pressing obstacles than this. But its the only one that can summed up in to so neat and tidy a word. I'll have to dig for the Roman perspective on the usage. I think we promised not to discuss the filoque, but obviously from our side it seems indicative of a tendency to dimish the power of the Holy Spirit. Thus it seems of-a-piece with such issues as what we consider to be the RCC obsession with centralized administrative authority, the consequence of not fully trusting the ability of the Holy Spirit to maintain the unity of the faith. There, now I've gone and discussed it! Shoot. :-)
