Odd - I thought we wanted to
be safe, not just
feel safe.
She trots out the usual nonsense. Most of which are simple lies, the rest of which are gross simplifications, based on a deceptive assumption that the behavior of a small population with an abnormally high risk of violence is representative of the risk of the rest of us.

If guns don't make us safer then why do we have shooting wars? Why do we arm police with guns? Why are we putting armed sky marshals on aircraft? Because GUNS MAKE US SAFER! DUMBASS!

Where's the barf alert?
I had my flamethrower out.

"More guns in our homes and on our streets will not make us safer."
Wanna bet?
To: jdege
Dera Rebecca,
Guns are not necessary to protect us from foreign enemies. The US military is assigned that resposibilty.
Guns are to protect us from our politicians.
To: jdege
"A gun in the home is far more likely to be used in a suicide, homicide or unintentional injury than to be used in self-defense." Manifestly false. Any reputable survey would refute this. Quoting a single example (as the author does) is a silly device to attempt to lend credibility to a lie.
Once you see this statement, it is immediately obvious that the author is not interested in the truth, but only in pushing an ideological point of view.

The same old lies from the "Red Star".
Now,can we learn a lesson from this??
Yes we can! These shills will NOT stop! No matter what happens, they continue to want us defenceless!
And the big question here is WHY!
Because they know that when the people are unarmed>br? the socialist government becomes a distinct possibility,a major probability in fact.

Thought this post from another thread would be appropriate here.

Even if the gun grabbers get the law changed, I agree with a comment from another thread "It's better to be judged by 12 than carried by six." meaning I'll keep my guns until they come and get me.

More guns in our homes and on our streets will not make us saferBut fewer guns will make us less safe!

* Homicides with guns occur most often between family and friends. In Minnesota in 1999, 65 percent of homicides were committed by people known to the victim; 19 percent were immediate family members. Easily accessible firearms can turn family disputes into tragedies. I suspect Rebecca is the kind of person who has a lot of violent disputes in her family.

Crime always seems to go down after a massive law-abiding civilian purchase of guns. Crime always seems to go up when roadblocks are added to the law-abiding civilian purchase of guns. Seems I'll take less crime and more guns, as that is proven to make us safer, and its corrolary is proven to make us less safe.

Hey, is a 12 gauge shotgun with a manufactured 18-1/4 barrel and a pistol grip legal now? I bought it years ago. I havent fired it in 15 years. I wonder if I need to put the original wood stock and long barrel back on it?

Oh no Ayatollah?
Then dress up like an Islamic Fundamentalist hijacker terrorist Arab-Egyptian and break in my front door... and we'll see who is safer. You with a plastic knife or me with a .45 acp Colt. LOL
To: jdege
The theory of mutually assured destruction is pure logic. Why would someone commit a crime against me if they know there is a high probability that I am armed and I can kill them? It makes us safer and it reduces crime, simple logic and backed up by real statistics.

The writer of the article should feel free to not own a firearm and remain unable to defend her family and her home.
