The blast fits ETA's MO; however, there are others in the Muslim world who would like to see King Juan Carlos killed as symbolic payback for what they call the "Andalusian Tragedy" when Queen Isabella and King Ferdinand drove the Muslims from Iberia in the fifteenth century. Given recent events this last theory may have more currency.

It is also worth noting that King Juan Carlos has a number of titles in addition to being King of Spain. One of those titles is "King of Jerusalem" as he is the living claimant to the Christian throne of Jerusalem in the Holy Land.

I,m sure the Bush Administration has the ETA on their list of targets too. So many infidels, so little time.

Very interesting theory. I think the ETA is a bit more likely though, unless some of those Muslim fundamentalists are really poring over their history books.

I would not doubt it was the Muslims nuts. They hold a grudge like nothing I have ever seen. I don't think any new attacks will be as well planned as the 9/11 attacks and will be on a smaller scale. They don't have the cash and can't communicate to each other as freely as they could a month ago.

"so little time"

To the terrorists, I say "tiiime is on my side, yes it is" & for the cost, I would gladly pay my tax dollars to fight & kill terrorists, rather than be forced to pay those $$ to save sucker fish!

Car bomb huh, I figured it would be sewer gas. Our hotel room in central Madrid was so full of sewer gas I was sure it would have blown up by now.

Queen Isabella and King Ferdinand drove the Muslims from Iberia in the fifteenth century

They may have seen the movie; "El Cid" starring Charlton Heston.

just hours after a military parade passed by to mark a Spanish national day.

Could they have possibly forgot to reset their watch? All this jumping from country to country - probably forgot...time difference could give clue as to time zone bomber came from.
I mean, why go to all that trouble hours after the parade passes.
