Zacharay A. Charles' egregious slap at Rush Limbaugh should demonstrate, once and for all, that "mean spirited" does not always modify "Conservative". It reminds me of those small-souled folk on the left who delightedly celebrated upon hearing that Ronald Reagan has Altzheimer's disease.

Your response is correct. The reason I left the democratic party in 1993 was first because of Clinton, second because I finally saw who the real "mean spirited" ones were. This kind of behavior reinforces my decision.

It was running about 95% total glee over Rush losing his hearing. One poster (IndiannaGreen) was posting "F*** Rush and F*** Reagan, too". But you have to understand that she also considers Stalin a hero.

One of the most seductive "big lies" of the left (of many) is the mythological "mean-spiritedness" that drives conservatism. Such a nice, tidy, and intangible point from which to attack. But like most leftist positions, has no basis in reality.

Ironically, one of the very examples that led me, as a leftist, to question this very premise was Rush himself. Once I discovered that Rush was not, in fact, Satan, other questions concerning liberal orthodoxy became apparent.

In short, I wondered what else I'd been lied to about. Years later, I'm still compiling that list.
