Trust me, I've been through this. I've gone that route. It only takes one "bad" Web project to teach you the need for "middleware" and a real programming language like Java.

That is strange. RJ Reynolds had me working for 10 months on an application migration project where they were replacing compiled apps, with a PHP/MySql solution. They were busy converting all kinds of legacy apps to that platform.

I sure like it, and I can only imagine how big the project would have to be, before you run into capacity issues, which you could prolly solve by using DNS load balancing or something like that.

While there, I wrote a nifty little module which allowed users to drill down into SQL data and generate a NASTY SQL query, and used a treeview display look. We looked at all kinds of purchased solutions using several different languages, but in the end it was just easier to write the doggone module!!! And it fell to me because NOBODY else wanted to deal with it. Their user interface standards were crazy, and I had to put so many features in it, that we started referring to that module as "The telepathy-based query," because it was made to do anything you could think of!!

The object oriented inheritance model is another issue altogether, and would be show stopper for you. Especially if you are used to working in Java. (which I have only played with enough to know that I need to play with it a LOT more, before I could learn to like it. hehehehe!!!)

When You decide to leave, it is not nessessary to post your vanity slamming the site owner with your version if the perceived slight. If you feel the need to leave, LEAVE, but spare the rest of us all the pompous indignation, just leave...you won't be missed, I guarantee it!

And I would promise never to come back "up front" to the "nice section" and disturb the "good citizens". I would swear it.

You gotta be kidding. I always enjoy reading your posts. You zing people every now and then, but so what? The people that bug me are the ones who only have one string on their banjo and try to fit it into every thread. I also kind of get irritated at the clowns who sound like they're doing the "pay money to have an argument skit" from Monty Python.

Stay cool, stay sarcastic, and don't go away.

Good Lord eastbaywhiner! Your posts are beginning to sound like the condit interview on tv where he claimed 7 times that he had been married for 34 years.....WE ALL KNOW that you think we are too PC - you stated it over and over - and NOW WE ALL KNOW that you want to go to an unmoderated forum..... For God's sake, Jim, please get that forum up and running so this whineybrat will leave us.....! Thank you...I feel better now.

If you were getting touched and felt, would you still have a problem with 'touchy-feely' stuff?

Don't be so sensitive.

My first two articles were pulled. I posted nothing racist but someone decided that it should not be posted for whatever reason. Just get over it and post again, but do not post an article that focuses on the silly behavior of a certain segment of society because these articles have a tendency to incite racial comments and will certainly disappear.

Hang in there, buddy!

C'mon. Hit me. I'm ready...

***SMACK***. You know what is as equally irritating lately, maybe even MORE than all the 'touchy-feely' stuff? It's the habit that some people have developed of coming onto Free Republic and talking at length about TECHNO issues.

Techno-Feely stuff gets old. Taco Bell sounds good though.

Dear God, we are afraid of a word??????

I've used that word here on FR several times, and never had my posts pulled. Ultimately it's the context and seriousness of the issue that's very important and I think the moderator(s) have done a good job in sniffing that out.

This site has been lucky enough to be the "first" conservative forum on the web and so attracted the largest audience.

I don't think luck had a thing to do with it. JimRob saw the need for a forum like this and started one. If you don't like it, cut all the excusses, and start your own.

I'll accept your explanation, however, he was quoting someone who was referring to a "supposed" life experience, therefore, it was different than if it was directed at someone or a group.
I'm an old codger so maybe I'm missing something Re: the post.
