It appears that we may have been so deeply asleep that even the "loose lips" of these people didn't squander their plans. This was not a failure on the part of those who heard the threat. 31 days ago, it simply would have been laughed off as a 'tin-foil-hat' paranoid fantasy. Within a few minutes of the WTC attack, however, our behavior changed, as is evidenced by the passengers on the Pennsylvania plane, and the passengers on the O'Hare plane a few days ago.

Yes, you are right. I was not attempting to cast blame or aspersion, simply voicing my amazement of how complacent we were then -- compared to today it seems a whole different lifetime.
