I have a friend in Hoboken who drives through Paterson on his way to and from work; this is someone I trust; and he told me on 9/14 that there were crowds of Arabs celebrating on the streets of Paterson on the afternoon of 9/11. I have heard similar stories that I tend to dismiss, but I believe this one.

This was the same neighborhood that sheltered a number of the 1993 WTC bombing conspirators. Omar Abdul Rahman's mosque was there, IIRC.

Your guess is as good as mine why these things were not given much coverage in the media after the first week. For one thing, newscrews were otherwise occupied on 9/11. For another, just look at the furor that resulted when a few scenes of celebrations overseas were shown. It just didn't "suit" certain people to have the truth shown. That doesn't mean these local events did not happen.

I am sure you believe your friend. Unfortunately this doesn't pass journalist muster. It doesn't mean I am saying it didn't happen, but it is precisely why I asked the poster to provide credible sources. While you friend may be credible to you, the rest of the world does not know him, or you or I for that matter. That is why it is important when posting in a public forum to provide verifiable sources.

If this had happened in the Chicago area I am confident that it would have been reported locally. When some local morons vandalized and demonstrated at a local mosque it was widely reported.

This is the stuff of so called urban legends if not sourced.
