You are failing to admit what the RC's want us all to believe (as they do), THEY ALONE OWN THE FIRST 1500 YEARS OF CHRISTIANITY. I'm still waiting for them to produce a patent or copyright. I have dealt with them on this issue time and time again (especially when I first started posting). If you go back and read my early posts you will see a lot of this type: "Catholics don't own history!"

My mistake was in assuming pegleg was anything but a parrot.

"Thin skin" for reacting to the comparison of any of us to terrorists?

Angelo. Havoc didn't compare anyone in here to a terrorist. You guys are overreacting. Go back and read the post without your PC glasses on.

By the way, nice win by the Packers. Now that one shows me the Packs chances are as good as 3-4 other teams that could win it all. The Broncos, on the other hand, look like crap. This is the 3rd year in a row now that Griese junior's should has flared up. He's a good QB but if he can't stay healthy we'd better start looking for a QB of the future.

First, it's a bad idea to base eternal destinations on feelings or what we want. Either you believe God (what is written in the Bible) or you don't. Second, as Jesus told us, there is none that are "good" except God. Now believing that there are many, many people who will be damned because they reject Christ, or fail to place their trust in him, is not politically correct these days. But truth is not P.C. these days.

My gut tells me that Jesus loves us all. He told me I am not a fundamentalist. What can I say?

About The Matrix Well the reason I used the word religiose and not religious was to indicate that it didn't have to be about Jesus or any religious person per se. All it had to have was a religion in it. This could include the Matrix I suppose, it did have something of a messianic theme. But, frankly I was thinking along the lines of maybe the Bells of St. Mary's or something like that, but the Matrix? :/

How can you guys know so much about the Bible (even contending for it) and yet not believe it? (Forgive me if I have jumped to conclusions....please fill me in.)

I make no claim to being especially Bible literate, let alone a Bible scholar. You must be thinking of someone else.

In prior posts I have admitted I have read very little of the Old Testament and, in the New Testament, Revelations. Why? Because I am not smart enough to make great sense of them. I just hope the Lord will protect me for doing the best I can.

Much of what I have learned, both good and bad, is right from this forum. There are not many places where you can get a daily dose of such diverse "truths".

When I was a teenager I knew most of what is important to know. When I was in my 30's I knew everything. During my 40's I began to have slight doubts about my omniscience. Now, some decades later, my greatest knowledge is of just how little I do know.

Actually if you think we "buy" most of "their" doctrine and dogma, you are sadly mistaken. The doctrines we share with the Patriarchate of Rome are those which are the common patrimony of all Christians, doctrines which were defined at the Holy Ecumenical Councils, all of which met in the East. It would be more appropriate to say the "buy" most of our doctrine.

So which of the Church's doctrines do you object to? The Holy Trinity? The full divinity and humanity of Christ? Christ's unity of person? The fact that Mary was His mother and He is God? The fact that He, sharing our humanity can be depicted in the Holy Icons, as can His Mother, and His friends the saints? The fact that those who are in Christ, though they die, yet they are alive in Christ (and thus we can ask them to pray for us, even as you and I could ask each others prayers)? The resurrection of the dead? (Which the verse from 2 Maccabees justifying prayer for the dead cites as justification for the practice, rather than some invented notion of purgatory.) The fact that the Church uses the same Holy Scriptures it has since the canon was fixed, rather than following Luther and the Christ-denying rabbis of Jamnia in removing 10 books from the Old Testament (or even demoting them to a "deuterocanon" as St. Jerome advocated)?

Can you tell me, in your opinion, can one be a true Christian if one doesn't believe the words of Christ are true? And secondly, how do you define "love"?
