Like ELVIS PRESLEY during World War II, many of today's hottest young stars could be drafted for the fight against terrorism. ET caught up with entertainment's next generation, to get their thoughts on the possibility! "Definitely. I'll be the first one to go," *NSYNC heartthrob LANCE BASS told ET. "My whole family was in World War II, and Vietnam, everything, so I would definitely go. I would definitely serve my country." "That '70s Show"'s ASHTON KUTCHER was equally gung-ho: "I'd go in a second," he said. "If they really need me and they think I'm going to help out, I'll be there. I appreciate my country a lot, and I've traveled around the world and seen the way that other people live. We've got it pretty good and I'll fight for that." 'American Pie' star JASON BIGGS had a different view: "I personally wouldn't want to go to war. I consider myself a pacifist. I'm not opposed to the idea of war, just my involvement in it." So how would he avoid the draft? "Maybe Canada. Maybe I'd break my leg or something," he half-joked. 'Scary Movie' funnyman MARLON WAYANS had a more serious response: "Fortunately, I don't have to worry about (it)," said Wayans, who at 29, is beyond draft age. "I'm not one for war, but this situation is so crazy, I understand." 'Joy Ride' and 'Fast and the Furious' star PAUL WALKER recalls the last draft: "I was 17 years old when the whole Gulf War thing kicked off," he said. "I think, like most 17-year-old boys, I was like, 'Alright, well if I go, I go,' and my dad was like, 'No, there's absolutely no way. I do not want to see you do that.' He had been through Vietnam. I look back on it now and I thank my lucky stars that I didn't have to. But the thing that really concerns me the most -- I have a 13-year-old brother, and that spooks me." So if the draft were reinstated for the current war on terrorism, would Walker go? "I think if you're called on, you're called on," he sighs. "I wouldn't want to be the one to make that call, to send troops overseas to get involved in this fiasco. Is it right, is it wrong, I don't really know. I just know that I'm glad I'm not the one making the call."
Says it all.
Thank God I don't rely on ET for information. Elvis Presley was drafted in the 1960's. WW2 occurred in the 1940's. Oh brother.
