You're probably throwing me in that pot....but...what's wrong with joking about it a little bit? We don't know if its the 'real thing' yet. It could be some mad uni-bomber type person...not the terrorists.

"stolen from ~CLINTON's~ Dept. of Agriculture Iowa Labs... "

And just how does the Iowa lab belong to Clinton? As I understand it, the strain of anthrax in Fla. was developed in the 50's. Gimme a break!

"what you need it a bunch of Cipro to treat it/fight it off."

In what State are you licensed to practice Medicine?:

What date does your medical license expire?:

Based on the greater weight of the credible evidence, the following conclusions should be draawn about this anthrax incident.

1) This was not a case of people naturally coming into contact with anthrax in the environment.

2) This was an intentional act, as the FBI has already stated, by person or persons as yet unknown.

3) This was an act of murder and attempted murder.

4) This was the act of someone with access to anthrax and the knowledge and means of dispersing it, which would tend to eliminate disgruntled employees or nut cases.

5) This act was intended to inflict terror of people.

6) This was an act of terrorism.

7) Whether this act of murder and terrorism was caused by a person or persons associated with the acts of terror of 9/11 is still under investigation.

The recognition of these facts, which are not really disputable, would not lead to panic or undesirable action by the American people, any more than the events of 9/11 did. Facing reality and taking effective steps in response to a bad situaion is much to be preferred to an ostrich-like attitude.

We are Americans. We face facts. We don't panic. We use common sense. We take action. We don't appreciate being lied to by our government.

The clumping of spores is important, but there is no way to quantitate how many spores one inhales based on the presence or absence of spores in the nostril.

It is an impossibility for someone to have inhaled 10,000 spores of anthrax, and only have ONE (as the first patient showed) show in the nasal mucosa.

Mass hysteria and alertness are two different things. I am as scared as the next person, but I will not fall victim to mass hysteria.

I am not at all surprised a third person has tested positive for exposure, nor would I be surprised if she was symptomatic. If the anthrax was intentional (and we all agree it was) it stands to reason more than oone person has been exposed.

What denial? I have not denied there is an outbreak of anthrax. I have not denied that it was an intentional outbreak. Nor have I denied the fact that it could be a "terrorist" event. However, we have have more than our own share of criminal minds in this country. The tabloids have pissed off alot of people.

Perhaps I wasn't clear. Before jumping on the terrorist bandwagon exclusively, we should not rule out the chance of other suspects. If, by some admittidly small chance, this is one of our "own" (as in the Tylenol tragedy), we would be giving him a greater opportunity by NOT considering the possibility.

No disrespect intended, However, So far we have 1 Man who died and two cases of nasal exposure. All within the same building as far as we have been told. The Government seems to me to be doing a good job testing and treating those that may have come in contact. Yes, It is a reason for concern, much concern. But, I do not think it is enough of a reason to warrant some of the treatment that others are getting because they are not yet ready to panic. Find a few cases somewhere else or show us it is not being controlled as we speak then I will panic.

anthrax virus.

Is this a bacteria? Treatable with antibiotics?

Or a virus?

For those of you intersted in a medicine known to help fight anthrax should look into Colliodal Silver. It was used before antibiotics, and is actually known to fight anthrax, and it's something you can buy in some health food stores. Not only does it fight anthrax, I have put it on burns, scrapes, ect. and it does a great job healing whatever, faster that cremes and things.

"Don't worry about the vaccines, what you need it a bunch of Cipro to treat it/fight it off. "

The problem with your position is that the point at which most people would know that they have inhalation anthrax is when symptoms appear, and by that time the disease is fatal. No amount of Cipro or any other antibiotic or other treatment can save you. It is extremely rare to know that you have been exposed before symptoms appear. Therefore, a vaccine -- a "prophylactic" in your terminology -- is your only hope.

>> Anthrax exposures such as we have recently seen mean that the bad guys have a usable stock of anthrax and are attempting to spread it. We all need to know where, how, and when each exposure occurred

No, we don't.

If this is a failed biowar attack, all information beyond what you need for your personal safety (i.e., contagious or not, need a vaccine or not, need antibiotics or not) is providing a free and extremely valuable battle damage assessment to the enemy.

I think any CDC investigation results that could help them do it better next time should be highly classified.

Don't you?

Thanks. My son has autism and I have lupus and some serious orthopedic/neurological problems, and it INFURIATES me that people will not make minor behavior changes to keep themselves (and their babies, when they're pregnant) healthy. Health (national as well as individual) is a blessing people take for granted, but I fear for our nation if too many people lose it. Life expectancy is at an all time high right now (did I read 79.9 years earlier?) but maybe the phrase "all time" is too, too right.
