Just yesterday I heard (either on radio, TV, or maybe I read it - so many info sources these days!) that OBL was ticked off at the U.S. because he was rejected by some American woman. I do hope he gets to see some of the creative graphics with his image here on FR before his none-too-soon demise....

Yes, we do--and I would have seen Mr. Bush say precisely that. But our adversary is not a lone fanatic. He has a network of supporters and similarly suicidal followers. Our adversary is a pirate. The problem is always political first, and will be political last. To quote Jefferson approximately from memory, "I study politics so my son can study war, and his son can study mathematics and his son can study art."

So while we are confident in our armed forces we are less confident in our political "forces." And here the treason of x42 might tend to show; if it be believed that Jefferson was as much like x42 as x42 pretended, and Jefferson's portrait is on our currency . . . well, it just doesn't help the politics of the situation, does it?

The best hope of resolution of the mess would seem to lie with the restoration of the pre-1976 monarchy. Which we should encourage on the one hand, and distance ourselve from on the other, so as not to position the king as a foreign puppet. That regime did not have a record of harboring globally ambitious pirates, at least . . .

The "dissatisfaction that has befallen them" derives, IMHO, from the pressure of freedom. The worst feature of accepting freedom is accepting responsibility for the results--or lack thereof--of your own decisions. I'm just waiting for some dingbat social services type genius (perhaps the sociology professor at Holy Cross in Worcester?) to determine that he's a victim of some form of mental illness and suggest that instead of annihilating him, we should capture him and ensure he is evaluated and prescribed SSRIs.

Like BigWaveBetty suggested on another thread, it's probably a result of his birth order. It's tough being the 22nd or 38th or whatever child he was of his prolific father. Poor Ossie kind of got lost in the shuffle, don't you know, and slaughtering innocent people was the only way he could express himself and find his true identity. Quick, call a social worker!

Oh Lord, if only Sammy's momma had given him more attention. Allowed him to torture innocent restaurant goers like our American kids do, interfered in his teacher's attempts to make him toe the line. If only his daddy had had more quality time with him. If only he had gone to a state run day care and had nice people tell him how he couldn't play with guns or draw violent pics.
