On a personal level, if Rush is not a Christian, its time he becomes one. If he is, he must trust God that "all things work together for the good". Everything about this life is temporal. Politics is interesting but it is not the answer to the worlds problems. His life could be a tremendous testimony when his hearing is completely restored. That day is coming, and maybe this needed to happen so Rush could get the spiritual blinders off his eyes. St. Paul was blinded in order to knock him off his high horse, and this may be following a similar pattern. Rush always said ""with talent on loan from God". Maybe the loan is past due and he needs to refocus his prioritys on eternal goals, not vain temporal goals like jet airplanes and fancy golf outings. "For what does it profit a man to gain the whole world and lose his soul".
I can't speak to how religious he is personally. I only know that:
- He defends religious freedom vigorously.
- He recognizes that his talent is "on loan," just as Christians recognize that they are only "renting" their personal possessions.
- He has always talked about what interests him, and has never been bashful about saying so. The mere possession of a corporate jet and intense like for playing golf don't make him a rampant materialist.
- He annually donates program time and writes a huge check to the Leukemia Society, which raises millions in the space of three hours (I can't name another host that does anything similar).
You don't know that he isn't focused on eternal goals. He keeps religious arguments out of his broadcasts because he thinks it's no fun to hear Christians bash each other over Biblical interpretations (and I agree).
A typically pompous, arrogant, condescending, self-righteous, pharisaical statement that we usually hear spewing forth from the mouths of small-minded, jealous losers.
Have you ever considered joining up with that self-righteous "God hates fags" jackass "preacher" up there in Kansas who does his best to make God a laughing stock?
I know Rush will forgive you for misrepresenting him, and you had better hope God forgives you for misrepresenting HIM.
What a crock! While I agree that we should all stay close to God, and have faith in his power to do good things in our lives, there is no reason to believe that this malady is a result of God trying to humble Rush. How can you compare Rush to Saul? Saul was persecuting (and in at least one case - murdering) Christians. Rush has always defended Christians, and Jews alike. I see no similarity. If Barry Lynn goes deaf, we'll talk. Until then, this theory of yours doesn't wash! Things in this life don't "always" happen for a discernable reason, sometimes they just happen.
I am convinced that Rush has already been doing God's work for years, by helping shape the political landscape for the better. That in turn has helped protect our Constitution and society from those that would destroy them. He has been a rallying point for millions. God's work consists of more than Bible thumping, and speaking in tongues.
So until God visits you personally, and gives you some special insight concerning Rush's situation, maybe you should climb down off of the steeple, and end the sermon.
Rush is not a survivor, he is a prevailor, and one way or another, he will prevail over this.
Wow. I had no idea that God was posting under the screen name Russell Scott.
What a stupid remark. What if he's Jewish?
On a personal level, if Rush is not a Christian, its time he becomes one."
Interesting that you are able to advise Rush but you have no idea if he is a Christian. If you have ever listened to him, you would know he is. Therefore, you show you have zero, zip, nada, knowledge, and still you presume to offer advise.
I now know much about you. And I suggest you are a twit.
There are many examples of godly men in the Bible whom God trusted with great wealth. Job, Abraham and Solomon are the first who come to my mind. Pray that Rush will find God's will in this time of personal trial.
Sheesh
Rush, if you'll put up with us we'll be proud to "put up" with you! Prayers for you and Marta. You'll overcome this little stumbling block... I just KNOW it! And if not, you'll figure a way to overcome it and stay on the air. I have faith!
I believe that Rush is a devoted Christian, but I also believe that he chooses not to make religion, or religious issues, the focus of his show.
