Since the media won't likely report this, be sure to keep in mind that anything the Clintons had ever proposed didn't even pass the laugh test of other nations with which we now find direct & responsible participation.

...or the smell test for that matter. (black pantsuit pun intended)
I will be disappointed but not surprised if we don't hear a word about this. Thanks for the post.

Thanks for posting this. While it is only confirmation of what we all knew by common sense, it's nice to see it officially confirmed.

The look on Musharek's face said everything ala "yes I saw that fool walking around the streets of New York via TV and couldn't believe what he was saying!"

Thanks for the post. This just shows Clinton's legacy in even more graphic detail: he only cared about himself, and he had noticed that as far as advancing his own personal career it didn't matter whether he lied or told the truth, what mattered was public perception.
So he was content with a PR war, he probably did a focus group and determined that Osama was not a biggie with the public, his blowing up an Aspirin factory was sufficient. The threat to US citizens clearly never crossed clinton's mind, he took care of his own alright, his own ego and his own name.
And now, after this, Hitlery lies and says "oh we tried to get Osama, almost got him".
The NYC and Washington tragedies are Clinton's legacy, that is simple fact.
We need to hold our media accountable for covering for him accurately, even though he's out of office they are trying to make him a respectable public figure.
Hitlery should be impeached.

The news conference to which this refers to was at 1 am (EST). I figured there would be some US reporter who would bring up the Clinton claim, and wanted to see how the General would respond.
The general giggled when he heard the question, and said something like "I do not think this plan had much plan for success so I shelved it. (the man could not keep a straight face the whole time)
It did seem to me he was repressing a burst of laughter.

Oddly enough...Christian Amanpour is reporting on this very news conference right now. Guess what?? No mention of the Clinton is a doof comment at all.
I just can't believe it!
However, much to be said about a White House/State Department disconnect on whether or not we are into nation building.

He responded that, indeed, he was aware that some type of plan had been proposed before he assumed office and that it had been readily dismissed because, in his words, the plan was absolutely foolish. He said that once he took over Pakistan he was informed of the purported "plan" and that he'd agreed it was a foolish approach as proposed by Clinton and that it was not at all in Pakistan's interests to try and proceed, Too bad he didn't elaborate on the details of said plan. I wonder if it involved appeasement of OBL/Taliban with promises of Pakistani territory. Or maybe BillyBob decided to explore the religious aspects of negotiation ("Hey Musharek, ole buddy, did Ah hear somethin' about virgins?")

As usual, the Loyal Order the Clinton B.J.'ers (CNN/NBC/CBS etc.)looks the other way when it comes to stories like this.

Gen Mush came to power by overthrowing a democratic government that was perceived by Pakistani military establishment as one toeing the American administration line on Kargil conflict with India. I don't disagree with you in principle, halflion, but "Mush" was targeted by the then Prime Minister (Nawaz Sharif) for assassination. Nawaz, and his predecessor, Bhutto, were both incurably corrupt, so corrupt that they even put the Clintons to shame. (something I once thought impossible)
I know this because I was putting together a venture fund in the Middle-East and SOuth Asia, and I have to tell you that the "democratic" governments of Pakistan wanted a piece of the action for any existing company we wanted to fund, or any enterprise we wanted to set up. And the corrpution was not limited to the elites as it is here at home, it was pervasive and breathtaking. These "democrats" did not believe in the rule of law, the central foundation of entreprenuerial capitalism.
This guy, dictator or not, at least tries to keep his committments and has reduced some of the financial chicanery in his country. That is more than I can say about most governments and bureacracies in the ME and South Asia.

Oddly enough...Christian Amanpour is reporting on this very news conference right now. Guess what?? No mention of the Clinton is a doof comment at all. Here's why... Christiane Amanpour is married to Jamie Rubin (remember him), Bill Clinton's Assistant Sec. of State. Talk about close links with the Press, CNN hires people who are literally related to the Clinton Adminstration.
I give up.
