He had been hinting for several months that he had some sort of health problem.

You can send him a note here:

I do not listen to Rush Limbaugh because I agree with him. I listen to Rush because he agrees with me!

That is so true.  When I first found him in 1990 I couldn't believe my ears.  There was someone actually on the air  who was saying exactly what I was thinking.  By prayers to you Rush.......

Wasn't he recently making fun of the people who have been commenting about his voice, suggesting that there was something wrong with their radios, and that they should purchase a Bose

If he was aware that his health problems were affecting his voice, he was probably trying to deflect the situation until he was ready to actually come out with the whole story. I would get tired of people badgering me if I wasn't ready to say something too. I never thought it worth nagging him about, so I never sent anything. But today I REALLY noticed the harmonizer. He sounded about 30 yrs old.

Rush will always be dear to us because he was the very first. He is great and we will never forget him.

But he has lost his spirit - much as Bruce Springsteen lost his passion.

It's all about Michael Savage right now. I believe that I was the first Savage fan to tell the world about this guy. He is the real deal.

I wish Rush all the best for sure - but Savage still has the fire in the belly. He is an outsider and always will be. Check out the Savage Nation.

The wife and I happened to be listening to Rush when he told the world what had happened to him. I was shocked. I, too had noticed the subtle change in his voice, but had no idea what was going on. I thought it might be related to his substantial weight loss over the last few years.

Rush is a class act. He will survive and prosper.

But damn, he loved his "bumper music" so much...

For years I thought his weight would take him out either through a heart attack or stroke. NEVER did I think this would do it.

While this may have nothing to do with it, it is common for radio people to suffer hearing loss due to wearing headphones, but I doubt that this is the cause of his problem

I've made my fare share of criticisms over the years, yet I've never doubted his unique talent. I would marvel (and appreciate) at how he could think on his feet and how he could say something that could have 20 different meanings to 20 different people and yet still maintain deniability to each one of those people.

This is sad. Even the most wretched liberal must somehow feel a loss here.

Fortunately, he's got tons of money that can help find a solution or an alternative method for his problem and show. His syndicator must be investing even more to keep their goose laying golden eggs.

I am truly sad. Good luck Rush..........

Those wonderful lovely people at DU. They have the monopoly on compassion, I tell ya. Nothing like us mean spirited Republican bigots.

He certainly could continue the show even totally deaf. He could get some equipment that would turn his caller comments into text (I think they have such equipment, right?)

Satan is the King of this realm, the physical world.

Totally WRONG. God rules all.

John 14:30,31,33
"I will not speak with you much longer, for the prince of this world is coming. He has no hold on me, but the world must learn that I love the Father and that I do exactly what my Father has commanded me. "

John 16:9-11,When he comes, he will convict the world of guilt in regard to sin and righteousness and judgment: in regard to sin, because men do not believe in me; in regard to righteousness, because I am going to the Father, where you can see me no longer; and in regard to judgment, because the prince of this world now stands condemned.
"I have told you these things, so that in me you may have peace. In this world you will have trouble. But take heart! I have overcome the world."

"voice change," not convinced by his claims that it wasn't there, and who have been fans for over eleven years and counting? How would you guess WE feel?

I would guess that if you were someone who kept badgering him after he pushed off these kinds of questions and refused to shed any light on them, you might feel kind of stupid. At least that's what I think most balanced people would feel.

Often times when someone doesn't want to *answer* a question, [because it's none of the other person's *business*] it seems like the other person doesn't pick up on the hint so the questionee has to get abrupt or otherwise harsh. Yeah, sometimes you might feel a little let down or left out of the loop, but who are we to pry into his health issues? It's not like we're family for cryin out loud. If he had a problem, you can be sure we'd hear about it eventually, I mean, that's what I assumed. Geez let the guy have a life. And maybe a little "man, I wish I hadn't been so critical..." from those people would be nice.

If the shoe fits...wear it. If not, don't have a cow.

But truth-telling is not one of Rush's fortes.

I think you must be listening to Ali Rush Rasheed of Radio Afghanistan. That or Bill Clinton. Not sure how you could mistake that trait for any of Rush's.

They do but it isn't that good.
A really fast typist with a headset (like a court reporter although I know that's a different system) would do.

Dear Laz:

Rush will be with us as long as the internet exists. He will take questions via e-mail or have his call screener type in accepted calls/questions.

My friend, "The BIg Guy", isn't going away. He may not be able to hear us, but he'll 'listen', read and continue "The Limbaugh Letter", in addition to many, many more op-ed's (which will be accepted) by the lamestream press.

God Bless him and Marta. As a 24/7 subscriber I sent a private e-mail to Rush.(He does read and answer them). Subject line: "Remain Forever Intrepid!"

El'Rushbo will forever be "Outstandingly Courageous!" With the help of God and our prayers, he's not going away.

Mustang send.

He lied.

As a Christian, I will be first to admit that lying isn't always a sin. Bearing false witness is something else. Also, it is very possible that he wasn't as aware of his voice changes as everyone else. Or he wanted to keep it quiet. I agree he could have said he was having trouble with his voice, that probably would have quieted everyone down very quickly. But he didn't. So sue him. I find it amazing that people went ahead and quit listening just because he wouldn't acknowledge their perception of his vocal changes. How overly sensitive is *that?* Everyone's entitled to a *little* huffiness when their privacy is invaded *without due process* by a bunch of strangers who are, for all practical purposes, able to do *nothing* about the situation.

And all those people who insisted that Rush sounded 'just fine' are now proven to be victims of wishful thinking and self-delusion.

That's nice, make us all out to be nutcases now, just because we didn't make a big todoo about his occasional change of timbre or whatever. I was aware of them. I notice that my voice changes from week to week. I especially noticed him slurring... almost like he was very tired or had drunk a few beers. But I didn't feel like I *NEEDED* to know his health problems, nor did I feel like Rush had any obligation to tell anyone until he decided it was time. After all, it's not like he was running for office.

Listen, I had a similar situation happen to me this summer. It was all I could do to keep things quiet just to protect myself from embarrassment. (Ok, I had a breast reduction - didn't want guys I know to look and see if they noticed a change.) This presented a dilemma because I needed someone to watch my kids for two days *and* help me out in the house for a couple of weeks, without having it spread around to church ladies and their husbands. Not that I minded the women knowing, but if I asked them to help, they would probably have to tell their husbands why they were helping me. That is what I was uncomfortable with. In any case, the comparison is that I wanted my privacy about it, and Rush must have felt similarly. He didn't want to drag it out, wanted to get as much info as possible before breaking the news. That's certainly understandable. What *isn't* understandable is people's rude insistence that he agree with them on everything (even something so minor in the grand scheme of things as the sound quality of his voice). What is weird to me is how many people derive so much satisfaction from *him* acknowledging their point of view. As if their being convinced of something means he must be convinced of it too, or they're insulted. Give me a break.
