WTC Widow Faces Expulsion From U.S.?
LONDON (Reuters) - A British woman faces expulsion from the United States after losing her husband in the September 11 attacks on New York because her right to live in the country died with her husband, she said on Sunday.
Deena Gilbey, 37, relied on her husband Paul for her right to live in the United States because she was listed as a ''dependent'' on his work visa. Officials wrote to her days after the attack to say her right to live in America was being withdrawn.
``My husband was murdered in this country, his remains are still there somewhere at Ground Zero, and now the U.S. government is killing us all over again,'' Gilbey told the Sunday Telegraph newspaper.
Gilbey said she had called the Immigration and Naturalization Service to check on her status after receiving the letter. She says they told her that she was an illegal alien.
Gilbey also told the paper that she had learned from a probate lawyer that she is liable for sixty percent tax on her husband's life insurance because she is neither a citizen nor a Green Card immigrant.
Gilbey, from Southend in Essex in eastern England said it threatened the loss of her New Jersey home which she shares with her sons Mason, 3, and Maxwell, 7.
``The little boys are traumatized and now they want to take our home from us. We did things properly, so if something happened to Paul I could bring up the kids in our own home, and now it is going to be impossible to do that,'' she said.
Unbelievable.
I was just thinking the same thing...
Of course! Let's pick the easy jobs so the boss thinks we're busy!
We had a case here in Buffalo a few years ago where a couple from Penn. came to see the falls..they crossed to the Canadian side and when they tried to return, they would not allow the wife to return with her husband. She was an Asian, and was here as his wife, but was not a citizen.Immigration said her "papers" did not "allow "her to leave the country and then return..once she left her papers were void.
Canada granted her a status there while the "paper work" was "straightened out" (BTW the hubby was an attorney)...Well more than one year later she and the baby she gave birth to in Canada were able to return home.
Wide, we "strain at gnats and swallow camels"
Who is this "probate lawyer"? Insurance benefits taxed???
This whole story sounds like B S to me.
Their, sin, being white Anglo Saxon Protestants, who worked and entered legally and desired to become citizens!
It's important to remember that the "War on Terrorism" is as much about the elite marxists who rule us protecting themselves and their power as it is about protecting the lives of us peasants.
Considering the stance that the British Prime Minister has taken with regard to the Taliban, I think we shouldn't be wasting our time and resources deporting British subjects. There are much bigger fish to fry at the moment.
What is an illegal Muslim or Mexican going to do that is harmful to our interests? Mexicans are contributing to our economy (you may argue about this which is fine). Not all illegal Muslims are terrirists (see the following article for another horror story)
This woman needs to get smart about this. Why not just claim that her husband is still alive, and let the INS try to prove that he died? If they don't recover a body (and this woman should not offer any kind of DNA samples to allow tham to identify anything anyway), then they'll have a hard time making the case that she has to go home.
It's the UKer immigrants fault they are on the 'persona non-grata' list at the INS. They've fallen out of favor with the fat-arsed bureaucratic set because they've allowed their numbers on the taxpayer dole to dwindle to far below 50%.
C'mon brits, let's get those applications for state assistance filled out! Of course, you'll still be in the doghouse with the Diversity Nazi Division of the agency, but demanding more financial assistance will go a long ways towards boosting your annual allocation for visas.
