Safavi says US attacks are aimed at regaining lost strength
Tehran, Oct 8, IRNA -- Commander-in-Chief of the Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC) Major General Yahya Rahim Safavi here Monday said that the U.S. is seeking to regain the strength it lost in the recent explosions on its territory by conducting missile attack and air raids on Afghanistan.
Addressing a group of IRGC cadets, Safavi said that explosions in three axes, namely the World Trade Center twin centers, the Pentagon, and the State Department, showed that the U.S is vulnerable from within. He said that in fact, the event turned the U.S. might into weakness.
He said the U.S. has imposed strict censorship on news broadcast relating to its strikes and the damage it has caused on Afghanistan so that the people around the world would not be made sensitive towards the aggression.
He called on neighboring states to prevent the U.S. and its allies attain their objectives in the region.
He disclosed that the U.S. follows a long-term objective in its attack on Afghanistan and wants to dominate the oil fields in the Persian Gulf and the Caspian Sea regions.

There is a struggle for power going on behind the scenes in Iran - the military, the legislature and the clergy are all split into different camps. We have to be alert.

Which specific neighboring states is Iran calling on? Could one of them be newly elected to the National Security Council of the UN?

The 'ranians slugged it out for 8 years with the 'raquis and couldn't beat them. The US comes over and crushes the Iraqis in a few weeks. You think the Iranians would have learned something.

I wouldn't be surprised to see more and more of this type of support for the enemy. This war can easily get a lot bigger and I feel it will in years to come. Wonder if we have the guts necessary to see it through?

Bring it on tough guy! Go ahead and throw the first punch! We'd love to have a reason to clean your clock! It would be nice to have a state to declare war on instead of some elusive terrorists. That way, we wouldn't have to be discriminate about where our bombs land.

Iran is freaking out because we are about to have a half dozen air bases on their eastern border. Then after we eliminate Sadamn, we will have bases on their western border. Think about it. It's the perfect strategy to eliminate the Persian problem.
