Listening to Rush today, his voice sounds in a little higher register than in previous weeks and months. Anyone else notice?

whatever he announces to us, could we PLEASE PLEASE not start 13 "Breaking News" threads?
To: snorkeler
Ditto what snorkler said! I am on 1 hour delay here and clear channels sounds like they are gonna cover the bombing today!
To: Mad Dawgg
Yea and he should turn up the overdrive to "ELEVEN because it's one more!" (Mad Dawgg receives 10 pts for obscure "Spinal Tap " reference) No - you get 11 pts for obscure Spinal Tap reference.

I remember Rush mentioning having a physical recently - routine, annual physical that you have when you're a big shot executive. Maybe they discovered something then and that is what he had taken care of last week.
I hope he gets to it soon. He probably doesn't want to lead with the story of his health and end up having the show be "all about him."

It's not his voice that makes him who he is, it's his thoughts and his ability to articulate them.
If he had to deliver them through a synthesizer, he'd be the same Rush.
Personally, I'm hoping he signed on with Monday Night Football; but he obviously wouldn't have referred to his absence the way he did.
The remark about doing the most soul searching since losing his parents could mean one of several things - either he is ill, or his wife might be. I can see him taking a leave to care for her. He could do a taped show without the caller format. We'll know soon enough.
Prayer for him whatever it is.

I agree .. for the last month or so, his voice hasn't sounded right at all. He even mentioned that people were asking him what was different, and he said nothing was. He sure has sounded differently, but today, he does seem more normal. Maybe there was an audio system change, but it was very noticeable to me.

He just said that he was in LA last week. Wonder what that means.

Jeez, at times he sounds like Tennessee Tuxedo. True....true....thanks for jogging my memory.
To: toupsie
Exactly!!! I thought it was just my radio shorting out. But his voice does sound different -- less "manly" than usual. Hope he is not in serious medical trouble. Perhaps he was street luging and caught a telephone pole bullseye between the legs. Like the guy on the Bud commercial.

This is his natural voice. I'm glad he's dropped the Mainline Philadelphian affectation. I couldn't listen to him when he pretended not to be himself, someone from the great MidWest.

Here is a copy of an email that I just sent to Rush on the 24/7 site. I do not know what you did last week, but today your delivery is more like the Rush I have been listening since you came on the air here at KKSA, San Angelo, Texas. For the past few months you sounded fake,as if you were imitating W.F.Buckley and talking down to us. God Bless and keep you and God Bless America.

Thanks for the explanation on Garry's voice - I thought it was a new person also named Gary. He went through that contract thing a year or so ago.

LOL to your Arnold quote, not this Rush situation.
I have never seen Arnold's quote written out like that!! Thanks! I sincerely hope Rush does not have a "tooooma"!

Ditto. Prayers to El Rushbo and his family.

Polyp on his vocal chords, hopefully non-malignant, but who knows. That's why he was out in LA where there's surgeon who specializes in cutting these off vocal chords without damaging the hundred million dollar voice. My prayers are with him but it doesn't look good.

I agree that before he went off for the week that he sounded like hell.
But I am comparing his voice now, with his voice on the audio-tape version of "The Way Things Ought To Be" and his current tone, timbre, enunciation, and cadence are the same as on the tape.
He has promised to explain. Stop going of half cocked.
I'm listening on the radio, WABC, in New York. His flagship station.

No - you get 11 pts for obscure Spinal Tap reference.
But I have a practical question...are we gonna do "Stonehenge" tonite?
