Leader of Boston mosque rips U.S. military action

The leader of an Islamic mosque in Roxbury criticized the United States for attacking Afghanistan without proving to the Taliban government that Osama bin Laden was responsible for the Sept. 11 terrorist strikes.
``What I do know is that America is waging war against a people they have not given any proof to. The Koran says never believe a wrongdoer until they provide some proof,'' said Abdullah Taalib Faaruuq. ``There have been lots of claims (by the United States), but no proof. They (U.S. government) are not treating the Taliban like they are worthy of any respect. It's entirely wrong.''
Faaruuq is a native Bostonian who converted to Islam 22 years ago and now heads the Mosque for the Praising of Allah. He said the United States must bear responsibility for much of the anti-American sentiment in Middle Eastern Muslim nations.
``A lot of people (in the United States) can look a little deeper and understand what our history is, especially in terms of giving support to Israel,'' he said. ``We need to talk to Israel about their mistreatment of people. We really have to blot out evil all the way around, including in the United States.''
Faaruuq charged that the United States - through the United Nations-approved economic blockade of Iraq - is to blame for starvation deaths of thousands of children in that country.
Faaruuq said he did not hear bin Laden's speech and therefore could not comment on it.
Like U.S. government leaders who have warned of additional terrorist strikes in response to U.S. military actions, Faaruuq said he fears there will be more violence here.
``I am concerned that eventually there will be repercussions (by Taliban sympathizers against the United States). I like the safety I live under,'' he said. ``But the United States seems to be the one being blamed for oppression in other countries.
``They (the Taliban sympathizers) are like trapped rats. There are too many of them around the world and they may react. When people are pushed into a corner, what do they do? They fight back by any means necessary.
``They're crazed. They're pushed into the corner,'' Faaruuq said.
Feroz Ahmad, a professor of history at the University of Massachusetts at Boston, said he believes most Muslims worldwide will wait and see how the Allied action against Afghanistan is conducted before deciding whether to condemn it or accept it.
``There might be anger but, by and large, there is moderation,'' Ahmad said.
``The humanitarian aid is an important gesture,'' said Ahmad, an Indian Muslim. He said antagonism toward the United States and Europe in the Muslim world and the Third World generally is rooted in a sense that the haves are acting in their own interest against the have-nots.
``In the Muslim world, it takes on a religious coloring,'' he said about skepticism of the West. ``This is an old problem. It is not just since Sept. 11.''
Ahmad said he and his students who are of Middle Eastern origin have experienced no backlash since Sept. 11. But there is an underlying fear of personal attacks, particularly if the current campaign against Afghanistan is answered with more terrorism. ``There is a concern, even among some of my students. This area is fairly cosmopolitan. But it can happen anywhere,'' he said, referring to attacks on Arab and Indian individuals.

A lot of people (in the United States) can look a little deeper and understand what our history is You don't really want us looking too closely at the history of the Religion of the Sword, Abdullah.

I'm still waiting to hear the first real muslim cleric call the cowardly act on the US for what it is. This rag head should be sent to the Middle East to suffer what the rest of his pals are about to receive.

Although this jerk is a US citizen, his citizenship should be revoked. He apparently knows nothing of history and is not widely read.

Send this jerk a recent picture of Lower Manhattan. Better yet, take him to ground zero and shove his face in a now rotting corpse.

We could no more prove to the Taliban that Usama is guilty than we could prove to the democrats that clinton was guilty. Some organizations live in denial.

We do not need to provide the Taliban with any proof. They understand immediate justice...read how they deliver justice without a trial, to their women:
FORCED ABORTION, TALIBAN STYLE
On May 29, [1997] Layla living in Khairkhana, Kabul, who was five months pregnant left her house for a routine pregnancy check-up at the nearby Parwan Maternity Clinic. She was dressed head-to-foot in the prescribed chadari [also called burqa] which only allowed a grill through which she could look out but even her eyes could not be seen. She had to wrap her self carefully in the chadari, as allowing her dress to be seen was against the imposed dress code. Halfway to the clinic she felt suffocated and felt an urgent need for fresh air. Turning into a deserted lane she raised her veil and drew deep breaths, relishing the feeling of relief. Suddenly a scourge-wielding Taliban militiaman screaming abuse materialised out of nowhere. "Why have you bared your face! Why have you bared your face!" he kept screaming while he poured out the vilest invectives. His whip hand was raised and before Layla could say anything the blow landed on her distended abdomen. Layla could only scream "Bradar jan, [brother, dear], dont hit me, I am with child, I am going to the clinic" but the frenzied Taliban kept raining down blows on the miserable woman. The pain and the terror made Layla sit down on the dirt and the Taliban went away after a few more vicious blows of the lash. None of the few passers-by could dare to intercede. By now Layla was bleeding but both she and one or two passers-by knew that she could not hope for a helping hand as there were no women around and it is against Taliban ethics and edicts for a male to touch any female other than close family members. Any man extending a helping hand to a woman in need was sure to receive the same treatment that had been meted out to Layla a moment ago. Layla could only drag herself to the clinic where she passed out. When she came to she was drenched in blood and the nurses told her that she had had a miscarriage. They sounded very worried about her own condition and it was not long before she lost consciousness again. The following day she developed a soaring temperature and doctors diagnosed peritonitis. They recommended abdominal surgery but before they could obtain the necessary go-ahead from the Taliban authorities Layla breathed her last.

Sounds like this clown is walking a fine line between complete ignorance and outright sedition. Give him a choice: have his citizenship revoked and deport his sorry *ss to Afghanistan or do some hard time for providing "aid and comfort" to the enemy.

These people must have a secret wish to be expelled. They might remember nations have expelled hostile minorities.(At least healthy nations.)

What many of us won't admit, and this is especially true of political leaders from the president on down, is that this is a religious war, in many respects. In WW II the citizens and dependents of the ethnic groups represented the Axis powers were suspect. In some cases these suspicions were justified, and neccessary. In today's pc society we are told to put these suspicious aside, even though the evidence of complicity in the arab community is obvious. Until the governmental authorities of the western world attacks the problem of the enemy in our midst, we will be fighting this war severely handicapped.

Some animals masquerading as people never deserve respect.

C'mon, people. Nuff said. We all know the score. Let's get together and
take meaninful action. Do we have to wait for the next attack? Wait for the smallpox, the anthrax, the nuke-in-a-suitcase? C'mon, let's get these people out of our country. (Talking about those on visitor visas.)
To: Senator Pardek
I'm with you Senator. I have seen this repeated by loony lefties for a number of years now that "thousands" or "millions" of children are dying of starvation in Iraq. Somehow this one doesn't pass the smell test, yet it goes unanwered and unchallenged. Yet it's part of the arab mythology. I think more effort should go to exposing this lie for what it is.
