U.S. President George W. Bush said October 7, 2001 that the United States and Britain had begun strikes against military installations of Afghanistan's ruling Taliban and training camps of Islamic militant Osama bin Laden's al Qaeda network. The attacks followed the Taliban's refusal to turn over bin Laden, suspected of masterminding the September 11 attacks on the United States. U.S. officials said the attacks included cruise missile strikes and were launched against Taliban military positions in both the capital Kabul and the southern city of Kandahar. A Tomahawk cruise missile as used by the United States and Britain is seen in an undated file photo. REUTERS/Handout

Are those shots for real? They look like something from a flight simulator.

Thanks,

This helps satisfy our desire to see some of our weapons in action, since obviously we aren't going to see lot on the net(works), at least not for a few days.

Maybe we can get someone to update the maps as battles, strikes etc happen so we can have like an online situation map that we can keep track of the war with.

The 2 cruise missle pictures have to be from file photos - the 1st was too garish to be anything else. The second looks to be a sub-munition delivery cruise missle - ie. drops hundreds of bomblets. This is an anti-personnel weapon, seldom used in 1st strike or at night.

Thank God criminAlGore is not in that office. The first thing he would have done on September 11th is apologize for putting up such tall buildings in Al Qaeda's air lanes.

HUGE ACCURATE MAPS OF AFGANISTAN

Just how accurate can a map be if it still says "Soviet Union"?

Those are real shots.. just prolly not from any warshots today. Just wish the T-hawks had W-80 warheads on them.. then we'd have a pig roast. Then again.. we don't want to irradiate the guys we need there. Okay, I'll revise that. We'll put 'The poor man's nuke' on them. A nice Fuel Air Fog vapor sitting in the air with the Taliwhack saying, "My goodness.. what is this?" just before the nice pop sound. Followed by a loud bang and ringing sound in thier ears.

Touche -- I think the Afghan portion is accurate as to geography.
