Muslim blames US at Chicago's Largest Church (BARF)
10/06/01 | Dengar01

Posted on 10/06/2001 6:16:58 PM PDT by Dengar01

I just got home from church and I had to post this. I attended Willow Creek church which is north west of Chicago. It is the largest church in the area, it is a non-denominational Christian church, the main auditorium hold 10,000 people and was filled tonight. The topic of the 5:00 service tonight was the interview with a Muslim named Iama Fisal Hammounda, by Senior Pastor Bill Hybels. They will be having three more services between tonight and tomorrow, I pray to God they change their plans for the next services.

I knew this was going to get ugly when the church showed a video on ethnic diversity. I looked around at the church filled to capacity with over 10,000 people and noticed several Muslims.

The inteview started and the man was introduced as a Egyptian who moved here in 1974. He complained that his wife was in Florida and couldn't come home due to the fact that she would be harassed. The goal of Pastor Hybel's interview was to prove that Islam is a peaceful religion, lets just say that he failed, miserabley.

Pastor Hybels did ask some very good questions which surprised me since I thought the Muslim might take the questions as offensive. A few questions statements stood out. The Muslim declared that Islam was peaceful and that the terrorists did not follow Islam, fine I guess. He continued that a "Jihad" had to do with attacking sin he made the poor analogy of declaring a jihad on eating candy.

Continuing Pastor Hybels asked him about martyrs along with the virgins and the streams of wine and the Muslim responded I pray for that to happen. He was truly innappropriate and this is when everything went downhill.

He declared that the terrorists in the US were bad but that the Palestinians were "freedom fighters". Immediately after saying that all the Muslims attending applauded.

After the Muslims were jumping for joy with the Mr. Hammounda's innappropriate remarks, many people got up and walked out disgusted. I stayed to hear his next remarks which stunned me worse than his previous remarks.

He then stated that, "The US is responsible for terrorism"

That is when I walked out.

Fortunately for me to write this my sister and her husband stayed while I was complaining to several people at the Service Desk. The final statement which I was lucky enough to miss finished with Mr. Hammounda saying that Christians and Muslims can be friends, only on Muslims terms.

Yes you heard it the slime being spewed by the left is false. I heard it first hand from this man answering innappropriately while joking about a serious issue. I made the statement that this was unnacceptable for a church and should not be tolerated.

If you agree with me you can FReep the church at:
Willow Creek Community Church
67 E. Algonquin Road
South Barrington, IL 60010
(847) 765-5000
Fax: (847) 765-9222
General e-mail: info@willowcreek.org

Don't worry because the church had many people furious, about 200 people walked out including myself and many people were venting their frustration to people who work at the church. I will be calling the church tomorrow to let them know how I feel.

Wow! I hope O Reilly picks this story up. My husband and I used to attend a church based off the Willow Creek model. And I thought it was always a Christian Church. Non-demo. but Christian. Perhaps my old church was not so Willow-Creek after all?!?!?! I know for example we did not talk politics -- plus the town we were from was very conservative so this would not have gone over (meaning the Muslim dude going on and on like he did). Why didn't the Pastor make him explain more or do something. It's got to be obvious that this sort of thing would cause too much controvery. Do you think it was actually rehearsed to be this way? I mean, whoa nelly... I have to say, even after hearing what was said .. .i want to beleive that most Muslims just want to live in peace.. perhaps I am wrong.. however, the teachings of Christ are about love, not hate. I will not act rude or hateful to anyone just because of their looks or religion. Am I stupid, perhaps? Am I careful, you bet! Please guys.. don't bash an entire group just from this. It's easier to just hate em all and be done with it then it is to better understand the situation of our times. This DOES not mean I agree with what happened at this church. If this was my church I would of stayed and raised a bit stink. Mainly b/c if the goal was tolerance , the pastor screwed up big time and should of been more careful of his guest and the topic. Thanks for reading..

The problem is that the Koran views the church as government. In the western world of government not being tied to religion, this a very wide difference. I won't say that all Muslims want to kill all opposing religions, just as all Catholics do not oppose abortion, but they are going against their religious teachings not to do so.

All denominations have dissenting followers but the main philosophy of the church has to be considered as the official position. In this case, the official position is very troubling to say the least.

I have been to this church a couple times. I have not gone back and will not ever. America did not cause terrorism. It is reaction that causes terrorism. The terrorists are reactionary. The Nazis killed Jews. The Nazis reacted against social democracy. Nobody goes around saying that the social democrats caused the holocaust.

Its strange how left-wingers like to use this kind of logic, because if they applied it honestly to themselves, then it would be they who are the international purveyors of hate and destruction, instead of the so-called vast right wing conspiracy. They would have to hate themselves.

Name calling, eh?

Allah is not the same God Christians pray to. Using your logic, Krishna is the same as Jehova because he is "god" to Hindus.

Like I said, ask a Mohammedan if they want to see the USA become an Islamic State, they will say yes.

Mohammedans cannot seperate church and state. That is clear.

Let's just say Bill Hybels is a publicity hound and an A$$h0le. (A Right Reverend A$$h0le, if you insist.)

P.S. I'm an evangelical, so I am not cracking on another person's faith, either.

The bookstore should be closed on Sunday. Though nothing would suprise me about this place. Why invite a Muslim to speak there when they probably could have got the Devil himself, live and in person?

Well, we heard it from the "horses" mouth didn't we?

finished with Mr. Hammounda saying that Christians and Muslims can be friends, only on Muslims terms.

Yep, consistent with the age-old process of Arab Islamic treatment of dhimmiized Christians and Jews. "Do as I say or else the JIHAD is for you."

All I can say is Good on ya!!

Its fine to teach tolerance for others. But we should in no way tolerate those who seek to destroy us, or suggest such despicable acts of cowardice are the fault of the victim.

One thing I can say is that the Muslims who attended and applauded cannot be too afraid for their 'health'. I wonder how much is 'crying wolf'. Like that Arizona State University kid who claimed he was beaten up but it was later discovered as a hoax.

It seems to always come down to blaming our country, does it not? And it hasn't a thing to do with being of Islamic faith or of Arabic culture. What I'm referring to is the inexorable diatribes from the "PC_Left", placing blame for every wrong in the world on the United States of America.

It's not enough that we open our doors to the swarming rejects from imporverished countries, or to the persecuted and maligned. And that we try to accommodate the profusion of cultures and religions that try to establish themselves as "mainstream". What of the philanthropy and boundless gestures of goodwill we have shown? Have we not done more for our "guests" than could be expected of any host?

Is it not plain for all to see that, for all the amity and courtesy we extend, what we get in return is spiteful harangue. Yes, we are by virture of our generosity, the (SATANIC) root cause of all that is wrong with the world, of poverty, pain, and suffering. How long do we had to endure this ridicule from our "guests"?

The party is OVER. It is time to send the guests home.... "It is time for them to go..."

What is this ridiculous name-calling. Do you not realize that allah is an arab moon god? allah is not the God of the Bible. it is not the God of Christianity or Judaism. allah is simply a pagan deity. And I, for one, will not commit idolatry by showing any respect to this pagan mood god.

Yes it is easy to hate, but it is wrong. God told us to love all people including our enemies.

However, it is not wrong to point out who the enemies of Christians are. The people who knowingly embrace Islam are our enemies. It is also not wrong for Christians to defend themselves from their enemies. We should actively seek to identify any and all terrorist in our country and deport them. God is with us since we follow the only way to the Father, Jesus Christ the son of God.

It is a shame that Freepers such as "Hamza01" do not realize the axiomatic tone of your post. Allah is NOT the same as God, at least not as that depicted in the Bible. Allah, by the Christian definition, is "anti-christ" because they deny that Jesus is God in the Flesh. Same for most Jews who do not accept Jesus' claim that "I AM".

You're right. If I call a rock "God" and others call that same rock "God" it doesn't make it God.

Allah was the sabean moon god. Mohammed made this god their only god.

I am shocked by your experience and yet not surprised either.
I know about Willow Creek as that is the "church" our Lord used for a short time to draw me to Himself. Although I have tender feelings due to my experience. I would not or could not ever step foot in that "church" again. That has been our stance for at least 4 years.

I pray you let the Holy Spirit lead the way. There are many faithful churches in the Chicagoland area. Good Bible believing, teaching, God reverencing, set apart folks who desire nothing but to glorify God.

In His Love †

WHY IS CLINTON HERE? - Statement from Bill Hybels and Willow Creek Elders

I'm not denying the fact that there are many very patriotic American Muslims who are just as horrified as any other American that mass murder would be justified in their deity's name...

...but for those who hate us to utilize a Christian church (where they normally would not even consider attending) in order to try to slap US in the face is no less than reprehensible!

(Get your smelling salts, Miss M....I think we may actually agree on something here.)
