The Neverending Story
An ongoing debate on Scripture, Tradition, History and Interpretation.
Statesmen may plan and speculate for liberty, but it is religion and morality alone which can establish the principles upon which freedom can securely stand. The only foundation of a free constitution is pure virtue. - John Adams |

Actually, no. We're not talking about merely the teaching authority.. We're talking about the obvious lack of ability to get it right - even in official responses to legit questions. And many have been doing a cut and paste of these official responses. As far as I know, Catholic Answers is not an offical arm of the Catholic Church. Thus there are no "official responses" that come out of the Catholic Answers organization. So until you can show me an offical, authoritative statement from either the Pope or the Bishops in union with him on this subject, then you're just pissing into the wind.

"Because we don't know what we need until we pray for what we think we need, then we see what God gave us, and we realize then, that he knew what was best, and we thank him that he didn't snswer us the way we thought he should."Why not just pray: "Thanks."?

Why not just pray: "Thanks."?
It doesn't say not to pray, only how important we are to God, that he already knows our needs.
I suppose the next question is, "Why not just read to him?", better yet, make a tape of your "read" prayer, then just put it on a loop.:-)

Alas we are all setting in front of our computors and arguing over what unprovable doctrines are right or wrong.A belated welcome to the threads. Yours is a welcome female voice. It brings intuition and sensitivity. Thanks for your posts. And let's hope we're drawing each other into a closer walk with God. Most of the time, I think that's the case :)

Holy Scripture NEVER says that one man or one office will be Christ's "stand in" on the earth. Christ Himself said that the Holy Spirit, whom He would send, will be His presence on earth. It takes a lot to get my feathers ruffled, but this surely does----to say that a mere human, "good" as he might be---is Christ's substitute on earth, when Christ said that His Spirit would be His substitute on earth. This is blasphemous IMO.

Why do I feel like a blindfolded person, being led through a mine field?
I'm tired of this game, I'm going home now. :-)

If them plastering the screen with "Pray for Pope Paul or the Vicar of Christ" gets you mad, what do you do when when they tell you that a dead woman interceeds their prayers to Christ, because he is afraid to tell his mother "NO!"Lol

There's no minefield, you're eyes are open. I learn from exploring; it's ok if you don't want to play together, really.

Think about it, when you ask me questions, you are able to explore my soul.
When I ask you questions, I get only the accepted responses from the Church Hqd.
It reminds me of Cpt. Picard and the Borg, you are all plugged into the same information center.

You don't understand what vicar means. "Deputy" is a better translation of "vicar" than "substitute." But substitute is OK if you think of it in the context of a "substitute teacher" If you have ever been in a school , you know what kids think of "substitutes."

You could give it a try if you'd like; I don't remember your questions to me, and I'll try to answer personally.
I hope we are all plugged in to the same source, that's part of the reason for questions/comparing/validating, to compare our common ground.

A demon posing as an angel of light to deflect attention from Jesus Christ is a real possibility . that is why claimed apparitions get so much examination before they are approved by the heirarchy . However , the incidents I mentioned do NOT deflect attention from Jesus, but direct atention TO Him .
Havoc is just being Havoc, sort of like Emile Zola refusing to exmine the evidence set before him , or maybe the "scribes and pharisees" reaction to Jesus's casting out devils .

Again, Obedience is everything. For once, I must say ... good post, Havoc.
Obedience is a necessary part of our salvation. There's no denying it.
