[history]
Forgive me. I'm going to return to a story that has been well documented the past few weeks, and I ask your indulgence. So much has been happening, there are so many things to say, and yet my mind will not leave one thing: the firemen, and what they did.

Moran was FReeper BCM, for Battalion Chief Moran. He was killed in the collapse of The Towers. His passing was verified today.
CHIEF was FReeper CHIEF Negotiator. He was killed in a fire in his home yesterday, possibly an arson murder. He was very active in raising support for abolishing the IRS.
(Also of note: Barbara Olson was FReeper BKO. She was a member of the national press, as well. She was on board Flight 77 when it slammed into the Pentagon.)
Two of our very best, gone in one day. Two of our best, announced as deceased in one day.
Mr_Magoo has a Memorial Wall for FReepers here.

Thanks so very much for the heads up on this great read, my friend.
Peggy's mastery of the word is brilliant.
These firemen are hero's each and every one. In the truest sense of the word.
And they leave behind still more firemen who carry on in their stead. Staggering.

Everyone died as the person they were..How simple, how true.
I hope and pray that in the days to come while we wait for the battles to start and for the Terrorist to strike back we can be like those that showed the best of themselves that horrible, terrible day!

(Thanks, teacher317, for answering cablecar's question).
One of the best things we can do in honor and memory of CHIEF Negotiator and of BCM - Chief Moran - and of Barbara Olson - is to bring more Americans here to Free Republic for eduction, inspiration, and ACTIVATION.

Bump, lest anyone should miss this gem.

That is beautiful. I do want to point out, though, that one of the paramedics and at least one of the police officers killed were women, who had also rushed to the scene to do what they could, either under orders or voluntarily. I just think we have wonderful heroes here in America.

Forgot to add that the paramedic was Hispanic and the police officer was black.

Because, if you paid firemen, Policemen and Military large sums of money, you wouldn't get the calibre of people we have now, those doing it as caring dedidcated professionals.
What you would get would be those who was into it only for the money.
