I just received the sad, unbelievable news. My prayers and thoughts are with Herb and his family. Let's hope the inevitable investigation will turn up whoever might be behind the tragic event.

Herb was truly one of the one in a million guys you hear about and it was a great, great privilege to have known him. There will be many on FR who will miss him - and his wonderful sense of humor - even many of those who so bitterly opposed him sometimes.

He will always be remembered as someone who tried to make a difference for the better - and was doing so.

I was one of the people who had argued with the Chief (and you) on several occasions. I didn't bitterly oppose him , if fact I agreed with him on much that he advocated. We got bogged down in the details of things and rarely ended up agreeing on much. He was a fine poster and someone who truly wanted the best for his country. I will miss his commentary and his passion and his relentless advocation of what he believed was right.

Rest in Peace Chief.

One thing I know. The CHIEF was completely dedicated to achieving fundamental tax reform. He saw this as an important fight that would restore personal liberty and fairness for all Americans. He armed himself with information, reason and fairmindedness. Each of us will have to redouble our own efforts in order to fulfill our common goals and fill the void left by the CHIEF's passing. May he rest in peace.
