Thatcher rounds on British Muslims

Former Conservative prime minister Baroness Thatcher has criticised Muslim leaders in Britain over their response to the terror attacks in America.

Lady Thatcher said Muslim leaders had not spoken out strongly enough about the September 11 atrocities.

Muslim leaders have said they are very sad at what they view as an unprovoked attack from the Baroness.

They say they condemned the atrocities immediately and unequivocally.

"The people who brought down those towers were Muslims and Muslims must stand up and say that is not the way of Islam," she told The Times.

"Passengers on those planes were told that they were going to die and there were children on board. They must say that is disgraceful.

"I have not heard enough condemnation from Muslim priests."

Her remarks come at a sensitive time with Prime Minister Tony Blair about to embark on a new round of shuttle diplomacy to bolster support for the international coalition against terrorism.

US Defence Secretary Donald Rumsfeld is also in the Middle East trying to reassure Muslim allies like Saudi Arabia and Egypt who are deeply concerned about the fall out in the Islamic world of any military action against Afghanistan.

Lady Thatcher left office more than ten years ago but her international stature ensures that her views still attract attention around the world.

Muslims in Britain reacted with sadness and surprise at the outburst.

Dr Ghayasuddin Siddiqui, leader of the Muslim Parliament, said: "I am very sad and surprised that she has said this sort of thing.

"Coming from a person like Baroness Thatcher it is very hurtful.

"People need to know that out of over 6000 people who died in this terrible incident, over 1500 of them were Muslims.

"The Muslim community has had to suffer twice - once when someone dear to them died, the second time when people say things like this.

"On the question of terrorism, we are all on the same side.

"We all want the people who did this to be identified, brought to trial and given whatever punishment they deserve.

"All Muslim organisations expressed immediately their horror and shock at what happened. Like the PLO did??

" We have said it once, why do we need to keep on saying it? We have also been mourning our dead."

Sher Azam, president of the Bradford Council of Mosques, said: "I am not aware of any Muslim leaders in Britain who did not condemn this attack.

"Many Muslim lives have been lost in America. We don't see this attack in terms of nationality, colour or creed, just as loss of lives.

"It is very sad that Baroness Thatcher has made Muslims a target at a time when the Home Secretary has given us comfort by announcing legislation against religious hatred.

"As a result of the US attacks the lives of ordinary Muslims have been affected.

"Women wearing the traditional dress are more or less housebound. We have stepped up security at mosques and for children coming to and from the mosque because people are very, very frightened.

"At a time when Muslims need support and sympathy from people of influence, it is very sad that she has felt the need to launch this unjustified attack."

Them: The Inquisition? Hello?!

I blame the Inquisition on Islam too as Spain was the only Catholic country that had it and only after 700 years of fighting Islam within it's borders.

Under the Koran, the term "infidel" means "pagan" -- Christians and Jews are regarded as "people of the book" and are recognized as sharing, with islam, a spiritual tradition. They are not regarded as "infidels".

And as such, the Koran says that they may live as long as they live under Islamic rule and pay tribute and "know themselves to be subdued." That was why they were allowed to live in the Ottoman Empire relatively peacefully. But they are not allowed to exist independently of Islam, at least, not according to the Koran. Moreover, the Koran says pretty clearly that atheists and pagans CAN be killed, so I'm not really up for being all warm-n-fuzzy with a religion that wants to kill Buddhists, Hindus, animists (how do you think Islam got so far in Africa?) and most of all, perfectly nice atheists like ME! So as far as I'm concerned, Islam has declared war on ME and I am perfectly willing to hate them back full-on.

Perhaps, but my point is not "who is to blame," my point is the Political Correctness Police protect Islam but not Christianity.

Me: Okay, why is it okay to say that Christianity is responsible for the Inquisition but NOT okay to say that Islam is responsible for terrorism?

Oooo... Good one!

See everyone, there you have it. The Muslim community is the most victimized group in post-attack America. Now we should all feel sorry for them.

Wake me up when this culture of victimization is over!

Why do I need to know this? Is this a requirement for mourning amongst Muslims? I guess in this idiots mind the other 4500 deserved it

Maggie isn't losing it. 80% of people who called London's premier radio station LBC this morning agreed with her and that included many Moslems who were against her, so the figure would be higher for Non-Moslems.
"Women wearing the traditional dress are more or less housebound" quotes one Moslem leader. Come on now, how disengenuous can you get. That sort of thing has never bothered them before.

No, she's not "loosing" it. She's right on. The Mohammedans, instead of condemning the attacks, are whining about non-existent 'hate crimes".

And keeping very quiet (as is the left wing/liberal media) about the murder of a 17 year old white youth in Peterborough, England by a 10 strong gang of Pakistani Moslems last week.

What percentage of your population is Muslim and Hindu now? I remember my English mother being very concerned about it. It just doesn't seem wise to me.

A very good point.

Very recently I read an article about a woman who was actually gunned down by trigger-happy Talibanians (or whatever you call those people) precisely for being outdoors "without permission."

But, as with everything else in that hypocritical death-cult, oppression is fine when practised BY Moslems.

Where is this documented? It's highly unlikely because 1 out of 4 Americans is not Muslim.

.......................................................................................................................................................................................

Official figures tell us that we have 2 million Muslims and 1 million Hindus. It seems as though the Hindu population has settled in quite well and adapted their culture to this society. Read a report recently that the expected population growth for Hindus is only about 4%. As for Muslims that figure is reckoned to be around 40%. Needless to say this is a cause for concern as there doesn't seem to be any signs that this group is making any steps at all to adapt. On the contrary a recent report accused them of behaving more like Colonialists. Now there's an irony.

No one (not on the left anyway) would say a word against them. Should have heard the fuss recently when a MP from Bradford brought up the subject of forced marriages (over a 1000 a year in the UK, often to men twice the girl's age). Well you can guess, she was accused racism, the lot.

Maggie is correct. The Muslim religious leaders need to step up to the plate here. God is much harder on those who claim religious leadership then He is on those who are led when they ignore or deliberately misrepresent His Word.

These men not only endanger their own souls by not speaking up, they endanger the millions who look to them for direction. The Quaran does not condone the murder of innocents.
