Glad to see this thread is still going.

Nominees: for Best Babe Videos of the 80s (which absolutely was the Golden Age of Rock Video):

"Centerfold" by J. Geils Band
Anything ZZ Top
"Maniac," featuring Jennifer Beals' butt
"Once Bit and Twice Shy," by Great White
"The Glamourous Life," by Shiela E.
"Is This Love?" by Whitesnake
"Girls, Girls, Girls," by Motley Crue
"I Touch Myself," by the Divinyls
"Hot for Teacher," by Van Halen.

I'm sure I missed a few.

BTW There's another bunch of threads that might interest you all. It's for those a little older, but there'll be some overlap...

THE BRADY BOOMERS

I remember when the hostages were released from Iran. We had a tiny transistor radio in the school office, listening to the inauguration. The secretary got on the PA and you could hear the cheers from the gym/lunchroom

My dad was working in NYC for FEMA when they had the ticker tape parade for the hostages release. He brought me to work that day with him, I must have been about 8 or 9, and we stood on the street and watched the parade. It left such an impression on me! My dad had switched jobs a few years after that and worked then as a civil engineer for the Port Authority of NY&NJ in the WTC. We've all been in FL since '93 though.

What a weird year this has been, we just lost him in July, he was only 56. He was so proud of the Port Authority and the Trade Center, and of working for FEMA... He started a Bible study group at the WTC with his coworkers at the Port Authority during lunch, after he left the job and moved down to Florida he kept in touch with them for a while and apparently the group had grown since he left. I wonder how many of them were there at work when this happened on the 11th.

Intellivision-Insmellivision. You want the true blue 80's experience, go here and get the M.A.M.E - multiple arcade machine emulator, version 32 {for windows} works best for me. Then go here to download any arcade game you can possibly think of.

I just found the place and for the past three days I've been living in the 80's by playing the original Asteroids, Galaga, Tempest, Missle Command, and Donkey Kong arcade games (called ROM's). They also have all the old Atari etc. console games.

BUT, in order to be legal you must have owned the actual arcade game (wink wink) to download it. The old games are downloaded in seconds because they are only about 27kb and then you have to add coins by pressing 5 for credits, then press 1 or 2 players, then figure out what keyboard button does what (you can change them also). I hope others will try this because I feel guilty having all this fun to myself.

If you are an idiot when it come to computers, don't let that stop you because so am I.

Good luck, and please let me know if any of you try it.

RESURRECTED - I have completely revamped my website into a weblog and invite anyone of the 80s set to read it, comment in the comments section (BE POLITE!!!!!!!!), and spread the word. I am a bit tired of the bashing of the 80s without some rebuttal.

Speaking of superficiality, the only thing I dread more than the current fascination with all things '70, is the inevitable return of Members Only jackets, spikey hair, parachute pants and synthetic music. My god the 80's sucked ('cept for Reagan). I wish we could return to the 50's but sans racism and keep today's technology.

Almost 1970, born on Thanksgiving Day, 1973 (which also happened to be the 10th anniversary of JFK's assassination).

HI there!! Never owned a membersonly jacket...but I loved 80s fashions because jackets in general were very popular...and I liked having jackets.

spikey hair IS back, regardless...thing is now I wish I had doen my hair that way cause it looks like fun NOW...back then it was just so freaky.

There was more to the music than synth.

could you specify EXACTLY what and WHY you didnt like the 80s, aside from Reagan? See, that's why I started the blog : I see all this trashing in the net about the 80s but aside from superficial things, liek music and fashion, no one ever really says how it sucked for them. It was a GREAT period for me! IF I had a DeLorean, I'd go back and tell myself to lighten up and have some FUN.
