How about Mary Hartman, Mary Hartman? My mom used to get so mad if I watched that show! And what about Dark Shadows? Mom could always tell if we watched it because we had nightmares. LOL

I was born in 1963, and as a child felt fear that I was living in a country on the decline. I remmembered long lines for gasoline and hostages in Iran. I don't remember much of Vietnam, but I remember that we lost. The real boomers remember how they felt when President Kennedy was killed, and some seem to think that the trauma of that event is their excuse for everything that they do later in life. What I remember is the soaring hope that came with the election of Ronald Reagan. He made mistakes, but he was a great president. I didn't follow politics very much during his term, but he gave me a hope in a better tomorrow. That hope strengthened me through long nights of engineering studies that defined my life from 1981 to 1989.

SUMMERFEST IN THE 70'STwo words: Bad Boy.
On another note, how about this ditty that's stuck in my brain:
Kegs, cans or bottles all taste the same.
The three best is one beer, Blatz is the name.

Hey, great thread(s)! I recently went to my 15 year HS reunion (yeah, '86) It was in the school cafeteria with a DJ playing 80's tunes (Theme: "Girls Just Wanna Have Fun") But aside from the beer, wine, munchies, and cheesy music, it was kinda boring.
This was right after the 9/11 attack (the 22nd), and it amazed me that NOBODY even mentioned it. I was the only one wearing a ribbon or flag. I guess everyone was still numb?
As a member of the "no-name" generation, I have to say that I think we have "no name" because we never earned one. There wasn't anything really big going on in the world as we came of age - well, the hostage crisis, but nothing else springs to mind, nothing on the scale other generations have faced. Therefore, many of us have been a bit apathetic. Till now, that is...or at least I hope things will change! Could this be why we're so easy to lead astray, so trusting?

What a great thread! Born in '61. Graduated in '78.
Elephant bells (I remember wearing those stupid things in the snow and having your pant legs frozen up to your knees), clogs, Earth Shoes, the big plastic combs, that hideous, hideous hair with the single curl running all the way down the sides. My hair was so straight, that I had to plaster the hell out of it with hairspray, and even then it usually flopped by my first class.
Now, I didn't do the powder blue eye shadow, because my eyes were hazel. I did the light green eye shadow, making my eyelids look a tad on the moldy side, probably. I even had green mascara.
Cruising in my friend Julie's car, jamming to our 8 track of the Guess Who's Greatest Hits, Yes, and Queen. Pitching in 50 cents apiece for gas so we could cruise all night.
Marching band parties, velour shirts, Brittania pants. Oh. And when I was a kid, I had a crush on Speed Racer (blush!).

Born Halloween 1956. In the first presidential election that I could vote I campaigned for Gerald Ford, but remember being very disappointed that Reagan hadn't won the primary.

Oops. Just remembered a few more @$$-kickin' Summerfest concerts from the 70's: The Cars, REO Speedwagon, and who can forget the innumerable times I saw Sweetbottom (Darrel Steurmer, Duane Steurmer, Warren Wiegratz, and a couple of drummers and/or keyboard players whose names I can't remember)....

Hey, how about equal time for X-ers. I fall into the very early X category, born in 1966, and my parents are definitely BOOMERS. Most people in my era didn't see much, BUT WE HEARD ABOUT IT. We are in our 30's now, have young kids, are trying to make our ways.
In some ways, we need a little more representation. We're all still very busy raising our little children and don't have a lot of time for posting.

Remember "The Weekly Reader" they used to give you in grade school. It was filled with all sorts of the stuff that all the Democratic agenda is filled with now. I consider it the most blatant form of propaganda hoisted upon us poor pre-Xers. (lol)(1960)
