My kids think I'm kidding when I tell them girls could not where pants to school until I was in first grade. Born in 1962. I remember my mom asking again and again if it was ok when I wanted to wear pants (no blue jeans allowed) to school, it was such a big deal. And those elephant pants!! in the sixth grade, I thought I was Marcia Brady--Stylin'! I'm 5 years older than you and we couldn't wear pants to school till 7th grade and that was after circulating a petition. We also couldn't wear jeans and I definitely remember having some elephant pants. Thought it was cool, though my father always feared I was going to trip over them and fall.
This is a fun thread- I could actually respond to many more posts than I have time to.

I grew up in Deer Park. Now I live...in a outlying suburb to the northwest. :)

The Edge of Night was better, by far.

I have a Skipper doll (Barbie's cousin) - and nobody believes me, but when you crank her arm she gets taller and *grows boobs!* I swear, it's true. :) Lol! I believe you...my sister had one of those! It was very entertaining for me and my 3 three brothers.

Oh - ok - Deer Park. Do you remember Coney Island, before it was moved to Kings Island?

Phiso-derm?
It began as Phiso-Hex - it had hexocloropheene(sp?) in it - probably made us all reminisce in this way tonight . . . . :)

Born in January 1959 and graduated in 1977. Ah, the memories...
Getting my drivers license at 15.
"legal" drinking age of 18.
Going to the outside window of the local beer joint "for my mother" in between.
Boones Farm and the back seat of the car, or the front seat for that matter.
Hair checks for the boys and skirt checks for the girls using a RULER.
Taping the hand lettered sign that read "Gestapo Headquarters" to the School Office door.
Grassing the Principle's yard with an F250 pickup (can you say "mudders"?)
VW Vans.
Elton John's "Goodbye Yellow Brick Road" album when it was new.
Alice Cooper when he was a one-of-a-kind.
Getting to see Kiss when they were a new band.
Wondering what Napolean Solo and Illya Kuriaken (sp?) were going to be up to THIS week. Even had the littl gun that shot the plastic BBs from that show. It came with a "silencer" and a shoulder stock. Don't get much cooler than that.
When James West was a WHITE man.
I'll leave it there so somebody else can get a few words in edgewise. Don't know how I ever survived it, but it was a HECK of a lotta fun.

BWAHAHAHA. He came to my school. For those who don't know, our weatherman had a puppet of a cat that helped him do the weather every night. His name was Albert the Alley cat.

I am SO glad that you said you had Tutti. I am beginning to think I was the only one who had her. So many people have never heard of her. Anyway - how about Francie - does anyone remember Francie?
...and of course - there was Alan - Midge's boyfriend.

Yes, Jarts! I wish I had some. I keep hoping to find some at a yard sale somewhere! They were pulled off the market, I believe, because they were dangerous. Our neighbors had a version with beanbag weights instead of spikes, but they never worked quite as well.

My claim to fame is being one of Art Linkletter's kids! I was 6 years old, totally humiliated my parents with my answers to Art's "questions,"Ok, Fess up, what was the question??? lol

December 28. I graduated in 77, though. So, I was a legal senior.
