We have no government armed with power capable of contending with human passions unbridled by morality and religion...Our Constitution was made only for a moral and religious people. It is wholly inadequate to the government of any other. - John Adams |

The Neverending Story (The Christian Chronicles) -- Thread 153
Big Mack, Do you have a response from pegleg?
I gave an honest and truthful answer. All I'm asking is the same in return.
You're kidding, right. You want me, someone who thinks Sola Scriptura is a red herring and has never supported it to argue in defense of it? You've got to be kidding. The entire authority needed for belief of the Bible is two fold - Faith and the fullfillment of that faith. In testing my faith through obedience, God has proven His word in my life. That is the test of final authority. It has nothing to do with feelings. And it has nothing to do with what I or anyone else wants. God proved it in my life. That is my testimony to the Word of God. And I'd submit that anyone who calls themselves a Christian and can't say the same is decieving themselves. Just as I will say that anyone who doesn't have Jesus in their life and anyone who isn't obeying the Lord and following him is decieving themselves.
There are 66 books that the entire Christian world is pretty much in agreement on. They agree on those because they are consistent with one another and bear out the same message in many different ways. Those books teach a unified message. I took the Bible on faith, not because the word Jesus appears x number of times. My faith has been proven. That pretty well settles the matter to me. If you're faith in it hasn't been proven of God, perhaps you're doing something wrong.
And one final point. If the Bible can't be trusted as the final authority, why then do you base any claim in the world upon it? If it isn't the final authority for the Christian faith combined with God himself, then nothing you claim has any bearing or weight to begin with - whether you twist scripture to get there or not. Your whole religion is a lie including that which we have in common. Sorry, I won't defend a Bible without shared teacher/congregation responsibility or a Bible without God argument.. even if it were to prove you wrong. I'll not defend a lie to prove a lie. But I will go back and look at your questions LOL.
Amen Brother, Thats right, Praise God! Preach on!!!
I didn't see one, not even a weak one.
BigMack
Thank you for your honest response.

Doesn't make any sense but thanks for sharing.
But I will go back and look at your questions LOL.
No need. This response tells me all I need to know.
No answer we give will satisfy you because the Catholics Church accepts both oral tradition and the NT as the full deposit of faith, you do not accept our NT interpretations and do not have the full OT canon. But I suspect you know that and you think by posting this list it proves something. It only proves that Protestants and Catholics have different understandings of what the full deposit of faith is and interpret scripture differently.
You won't go look in the WORD of GOD and answer these questions because you can't, it ain't there. Go look and prove me wrong and I will close my mouth! Quit acting like a politician and answer the questions put before you.
BigMack
I responded in post 32 on the previous thread. You may not like my answer but it is truthful. My point is since Protestants do not accept oral tradition and Catholic scripture interpretations, we cannot answer Big Mack's questions to any Protestant's satisfaction. However, since Protestants adhere to Sola Scriptura, my questions should not be difficult.
On the contrary I find it very telling that you won't even make an attempt to really answer the questions. I was going to take a whack at yours if I could find real answers to PayNo's great questions from you, in detail. But I won't waste my time now.
I did answer but you don't see it. If in fact what you say about the Catholic Church is true, you should be able to answer my questions to show me the error of my ways.

I see I'm not the only one that has caught onto your game.
Can't do it can you!
BigMack

Still spinning....... You can't do it, it ain't there.
BigMack
OK guys I'll make a deal with you. I will answer all of the questions, if you will answer all of mine. I hesitated to do that because what usually happens is Protestants will start criticizing our answers and ignore our questions. Sound fair to you?
LETS ROLL!!!
BigMack
You're kidding, right? Vice versa.
