Heard on Fox earlier today that some airlines have returned to allowing curbside baggage checks. Didn't say which airlines. So much for security. Bottom line over passenger safety as usual.
Looks like FAA has gone back to sleep.

OK, so how does curbside checkin reduce security?

The only one that I have heard about is Chicago's O'Hare.

More middle men involved with your luggage. Not a good thing.

So, then we should go 100% carry on. No middlemen.

Ever see how closely a skycap checks your photo ID against your ticket? This was yet another politically correct move. Skycaps lost their jobs. I'm surprised Jessie Jackoff wasn't out whining for them.

I saw a local news report a few days ago informing us that Philadelphia Int'l airport has reinstated curbside check-in. They didn't report on status of other airports.

The Albuquerque Sunport International Airport is now allowing curb side check in for Southwest Airlines. Announced by the local NBC television station this morning.

I heard American Airlines. It's because the skycaps can process both paper and e-tickets curbside. They can also compare the passenger to a 'suspect list.' If there is a match, the passenger is supposed to be escorted inside--if I heard that correctly!

Oh please. Curbside check in is fine. It's the fact the x-ray machine operators are all wetbacks. 80% are non-citizens. How many of those are legal immigrants, like I'm so sure you can get an H-1B visa for being a security guard?
It's time to distinguish between the B.S., like killing the tip income for the guys checking curbside, from the real problems, like not being able to find tens of thousands of young Moslem men with nothing better to do than plot our destruction after they overstay their bogus student visas.

A lot of seniors have refused to fly without this convenience. Personally, I believe if the airport personnel are well vetted, this shouldn't be a problem. I don't see why American citizens have to be penalized at the airports. I won't fly if I'm patted down by some grubby airport worker. I won't be treated like a criminal.

So true. Have been debating having the Mother-in-law travel to see us over the holidays. She can't carry bags across a parking lot to check in. Curbside is fine if they are training folks what to look for.

Curbside check-in has nothing to do with security.
All that is really needed is a rigorous xray/catscan type treatment of every bag going on the plane, and of every person entering the gate area, plus a trace chemical analysis of the same for typical explosives. And a cross check of names/faces vs. a computerized watch list of international criminals.
On the planes, a combination of sky marshalls and armed pilots along with stronger cockpit doors and a flight path enforcement system that wouldn't allow the plane to make unauthorized flight deviations.
The whole process is really an upgrading of techniques and equipment, and getting from car to plane shouldn't take any longer than it did prior to 9/11.

You're joking, right? You really think it's OK to have your body on display every time you want to fly??? So because the intelligence agencies blew it, all of us lose our Fourth Amendment rights? Are you NUTS??!!

If not, how do you propose to stop someone from smuggling in some decent non-metalic armament? Weapons that can evade metal detectors are stone-age technology.

Would you submit to that? I certainly wouldn't!! So much for the airlines recovering if that's how they plan to treat the flying public.
To: DLfromthedesert
I feel the same way (about being subject to pat-downs). I am not a crook and cannot accepted being treated like one to get on an airplane.

So are we freaks, or what? It doesn't seem to upset too many other people. Go figure!!
