CNN Documentary "Behind the Veil" quote regarding Guns
CNN Documentary "Behind the Veil"

Interesting quote by a Taliban spokesperson during this gripping documentary. He said that one of the first good things the Taliban did when they came to power was to disarm the people.

The Brady Bill did not take your gun away, even though you might prefer the fantasy that it did. It kept some ex-felons, juveniles, stalkers, etc. from easy access. At least that's what Atty-Gen. Ashcroft said when he praised it in July. Let's stick to reality here.

Obviously you're not one of those concerned about incremenalism. The Brady Bill is just another milepost on the highway to total confiscation. It does very little in the way of keeping guns from those who shouldn't have them. While always bragging about the hundreds of thousands of criminals denied an opportunity to procure a firearm, the Clinton administration conveniently overlooked the fact that only a few dozen of these criminals were ever prosecuted. Now why is that? The gun confiscationist's primary objective is disarming America. That is where all there resources are being dedicated. But while the Butcher of Waco was ignoring those who illegally tried to buy a firearm, she was keeping all the purchase records of those who legally bought firearms, in violation of the law. So you want to talk about reality? Well, McCain lover, that is the reality.

Same thing happened when the Ayatolla took power in Iran.

Yes, let's stick to reality.

Reality: ANYONE not in jail can get a gun if they want it bad enough and are willing to pay for it. The law be damned.

Reality: Thousands, if not tens of thousands, of people have been wrongfully denied the RIGHT to purchase a firearm based on erroneous data or just plain footdragging by NICS offficials.

Reality: Janet Reno deliberately misinterpreted the law requiring the destruction of gun buyer data in order to establish a national gun owner database.

Reality: Antigunners know that every hurdle they can place in front of potential gun buyers discourages many individuals from purchasing them, resulting in fewer armed citizens. Just like they want.

Reality: John McCain has no problem with a few billionaires funding practically the entire anti gun movement. (As long as they contribute to his campaign, too.)

Your reply to me only underlines your lack of understanding of this issue.
The net result of most gun laws passed for several years now
is to infringe the constitutional right for we who are honest citzens.

The disarmed planes that were hijacked and used as missiles
to kill thousands of defenseless people on Sept. 11 is a microcosm
of what can be accomplished when an entire country can be disarmed.
Have you ever wondered what Sept. 11 would have been like
if the passengers of those airplanes had been armed?

But show me one bill proposed by one Congressman or Senator that would confiscate our guns.

Here's an example of a bill that took effect today in the "all blue" state of CT.

New Laws Take Effect in Connecticut

"....Supporters also touted the gun control law, which expands an existing ban on assault weapons and authorizes police to seize weapons from gun owners who are considered dangerous."

Whoever has 'dangerous thoughts' will have their guns confiscated next.   </sarcasm>

Inside Afghanistan-Behind the Veil
I have seen the show and what leadpencil1 reports is true. Maybe through the web site you can check your local TV listings - it's been on TV multiple times.

Well then, we can just all thank Joe "Loserman" Lieberman and Christopher "Dotty" Dodd for their in-state support and encouragement, can't we.

"Jepsen, a candidate for governor in 2002, said the success of the bill reflects a political change from eight years ago, when the National Rifle Association fought to block the state's first assault weapons ban."

From your link
The NRA also helped draft the Brady Bill.

"It's a terrible bill if it's that broad"

ANY bill that does not follow our RIGHTS as outlined in the 2nd amendment is terrible.
Text of the Second Amendment
"A well regulated Militia
being necessary to the security of a free State,
the right of the people to keep and bear Arms shall not be infringed."

You won't find antigunners expressly calling for abolition of private arms ownership - they understand that idea is too unpopular. Instead, they prefer to erect so many barriers between the law-abiding gun purchaser and the gun that honest citizens are deterred from buying a gun.
