Instead, you have it that God acted to kill innocent people because we displeased Him.

Although we use the word "innocent" to describe victims of all sorts of tragedies, we use it to mean that they didn't do anything that specifically deserved this tragedy. But th point is that as a nation, we are NOT innocent. And looking at it from the national level, this kind of thing is just the sort of thing that wakens a nation to examine itself and its actions. That can be very God-honoring when we return to God in repentance and humility.

From your posts, it certainly seems like you're saying that the god you wordship in fact slaughtered 6,000 perfectly innocent people as a kind of gruesome message to the rest of us. The message itself is kind of unclear, but hey, you keep telling us that your god works in mysterious ways, so what appears to be appalling immorality and a perfect lack of even rudimentary love and mercy on his part is really ok 'cause he's big and he's terrible and he can do whatever he wants. Just a thought - maybe you ain't really worshiping God anymore?
