Have you seen THIS photograph? Do you know WHO created it??
posted by ASA Vet on 9/28/2001
On Friday, September 28, nationally syndicated conservative talk host Hugh Hewitt described this photo on his radio show, citing FreeRepublic as his source, and giving credit to the post by ASA Vet in particular.
Since then, Hugh's webmistress, Lynne (the WebXena) has reported HUNDREDS of requests for a link to this photo, and has posted a link to a DIFFERENT FR THREAD, with an image posted by FReeper archy, on www.HughHewitt.com.
An earlier thread with this image was started by RaceBannon on 9/27/2001 at 12:30:59 PDT.
1 - Is there an EARLIER post of this image anywhere on Free Republic?
2 - Does anyone know who "Bob McCown" is?
(MOST images posted seem to have the name "Bob McCown" printed in the lower right-hand corner.)
3 - Who is the REAL creator of this masterpiece? (And, can you PROVE it?)
Thank you.

My alternate caption would read:

Hey, YOU are the creator of that "Bad American" essay that everybody credits to Ted Nugent!!!
What motivated you back then? Any particular event set you off, or was it just a flash of inspiration?

See if you can spot one of the suspected "didn't get the job done" terrorists strapped to one of the bombs. Post #84.

When I was in USAF, BUFF was (Big Ugly Flying Fuc***). Several websites also use this same acronym.
Here's another good site about the B-52 with some good pics. B-52 info

Yeah. Actually, it was an email from a friend of mine (hardcore Democ
rat) about what you had to believe to be a "Good Republican" that motivated me. I decided to fire back at him the Bad Republican rant, which I then posted on FreeRepublic before the election last November (actually on 09-01-00).
Someone got a hold of it, changed the title to "Bad American", and sent it on its way into Urban Legend.
I was going to post a sequel vanity to celebrate a full year of this conservative email virus, but since the atrocity of 9-11, I haven't been in the mood. My goal was to make sure that FreeRepublic gets credit where credit is due, as in Sore/Loserman or this B52 photo. It is amazing the influence that this site has on American culture.
I do plan to get around to it soon, though I have no illusions that this one will also end up in millions of email inboxes credited to Ted, or Rush, or George Carlin. What has been very satisfying is knowing that somehow I struck a cord with millions of Americans, and was able to articulate the same emotions, frustrations and desires that they feel. Pissing off a lot of Liberals in the process sure was a kick as well.
Best,

Oh, by the way, if you want to read the original, click on my name. I have it bookmarked.

I got the pic via e-mail on the 23rd. How long has it been around?

Mybrother sent it to me last week and I wanted to post it here but I'm not good at doing that so I asked Thinkin Girl how to do it and she said I had to know where it came from and send it from that site, I will ask my bro. where he got it. My husband made about 10 copies for work. Best I've seen yet!!!

Thanks, spectr17 - Your link to the "Big Ugly Fat Fellow" page at the
Federation of American Scientists (FAS) VERY comprehensive website provided more information than I EVER wanted to know, but it also included a page called
B-52 Image Bank with
THIS LINK to the (full size) elusive undoctored original Barksdale image.
DING, DING, DING!!! We have a winner!
Can someone please post it here?

OK, now the NEXT objective is to track down
WHO added those wonderful words, and
WHEN the finished product was first posted.
I have an e-mail in to the "Bob McCown" who broadcasts sports in Toronto.

This sounds promising! The 23rd is the earliest date that I have heard so far. You may be very close to the source.
Can you ask the person who sent it to you where THEY got it?
