Hey, YOU are the creator of that "Bad American" essay that everybody credits to Ted Nugent!!!

What motivated you back then? Any particular event set you off, or was it just a flash of inspiration?

Yeah. Actually, it was an email from a friend of mine (hardcore Democrat) about what you had to believe to be a "Good Republican" that motivated me. I decided to fire back at him the Bad Republican rant, which I then posted on FreeRepublic before the election last November (actually on 09-01-00).

Someone got a hold of it, changed the title to "Bad American", and sent it on its way into Urban Legend.

I was going to post a sequel vanity to celebrate a full year of this conservative email virus, but since the atrocity of 9-11, I haven't been in the mood. My goal was to make sure that FreeRepublic gets credit where credit is due, as in Sore/Loserman or this B52 photo. It is amazing the influence that this site has on American culture.

I do plan to get around to it soon, though I have no illusions that this one will also end up in millions of email inboxes credited to Ted, or Rush, or George Carlin. What has been very satisfying is knowing that somehow I struck a cord with millions of Americans, and was able to articulate the same emotions, frustrations and desires that they feel. Pissing off a lot of Liberals in the process sure was a kick as well.

Best,
Bootyist
