Edited on 04/13/2004 1:38:24 AM PDT by Jim Robinson. [history]

In his resolve to hunt down and kill the Osama bin Laden terrorists he says committed the Sept. 11 massacres, President Bush has behind him a nation more unified than it has been since Pearl Harbor. But now Bush has been put on notice that this war cannot end with the head of bin Laden and the overthrow of the Taliban.

What is wrong with "Christian Militantism"? Sounds smart.

Do you prefer a theology that sends suicide killers of women and children to eternal punishment? Or, maybe, you prefer

the theology that promises suicide killers of women and children eternal paradise?

It is time for you to get out of neutral, and defend America.

Much as I don't like Pat and his supporters, I think we need to ward against turning this war into a "crusade for democracy." Let us not forget that Perle/Kristol/Kirkpatrick are all Wilsonian in their foreign policy views, believing that the US should intervene all over the world to "support democracy."

Liberals want a world order under the UN, neocons want a world order under the US. Neither is feasible. Lets just strike at the bastards who did this (and their collaborators) and be done with it.

None of this changes the fact that Pat will be working as a janitor in a Porno theatre in three years.

. . . this war will metastasize into a two-continent war from Algeria to Afghanistan, with the United States and Israel alone against a half-dozen Arab and Muslim states.

So what? Why does PB think Libya, Iran, Syria, et al., AND Arafat to boot, are falling all over themselves to see who can kiss Uncle Sam's behind most sweetly? They're scared, they fear us, and they know they cannot defeat us if we put all our military might behind this war on terrorism. Pat's way off base on this one and the neo-cons are right.

Pat is right. To turn this into a war against Syria, Iran, Iraq and Lybia is insanity.

On the contrary. It's insanity not to pursue the campaign against militant Islam throughout eternity. Once Osama is dust and the Northern Alliance (or some one else) has replaced the Taliban, it is asbolutely that the western world (and I include Russia and China in this group) work clandestinely or otherwise to destablize every arab government which refuses to recognize the twenty-first century and continues to sponsor anti-western terrorists.

To do otherwise is to acknowledge the inevitability of eleventh-century Islam conquering the entire globe.

Hardly seems fair, does it?

They're scared, they fear us, and they know they cannot defeat us if we put all our military might behind this war on terrorism.

Amen. The last thing we need is a stalemate a la Israeli/Palestinian punch swapping. Use our momentum and put a stop to this now, before it escalates. Leave every radical musulim state walking away and looking over their shoulder thinking, "Dam*! I don't want a piece of that action." Even passive support of terrorist causes should come with a price tag too awful to consider. The carrot can come later.

Fail to do that and you might as well start picking out which member of your family you want as a part of the next 7000 Americans to die.

"Implied is a threat to end support if Bush does not widen the war to include all of Israel's enemies, or if he pursues the U.S.-Arab-Muslim coalition "

I don't see this at all from the portions that Pat quoted. Do you have a link to the original letter?

Are the later quotes from Emerson and Schmitt from the letter, or are they signers of the letter?

I suspect that Pat is setting up his own straw man to knock down in order to impress his old supporters.

I make your point for you?

Huh????

I asked you a direct question, and you side-stepped it. Let's try again, and this time, read what I write:

Can you not tell the difference, Leroy S. Mort, between a religion that condemns suicide killers to hell, and a

religion that rewards suicide killers with paradise?

Please answer this question, or is it too difficult for you?

consider your support withheld is what you are saying right?
Let's see.........disclose enough info to prove under 275 million different standards or percentages of proof that OBL is involved and then we will have YOUR support, right? I see a lot of merit in this approach, maybe we should appoint a special panel or a new alphabet soup agency to set the standard and then proceed from there...........sorry, just had to get in a few jabs

I agree that we should be shown something to justify our actions but I don't feel the need to see that proof before ramping up to take our counter action.
