Are They Going to Take Away our Pencils?/ or a Lack of Knowldge is a very Dangerous Thing.

This is NOT a Free Republic sanctioned topic.

This is strictly from me, imparting medical knowlege that I think every American should know.

Had less than ten % of the passengers on board the high jacked airplanes had the follwing information and the guts to use it, at least 6,000 more Americans would still be alive. It is so easy to kill an agressor with little strength, when one knows how. Another day I'll tell you how to do it with your bare hands, but for now, all I want you to be armed with is a pen or a pencil. REMEMBER the pen is mighter than the sword. It is all in how you use it.

First keep in mind primary point of attack is eyes, neck, ears and solar plexus (That's the soft spot right below your breast bone, between your rib cage).

From Behind the assailant, with the eraser end or back of pen/pecil against the base of your hand and the intrument sticking up between your fingers, as hard as you can, jam it into the nape of the neck (Where the base of the skull and the neck meet) This drives it into the Medula Oblongata (brainstem) We have all read of people surviving bullet wounds to the brain and still functioning. You do NOT FUNCTION with a severe brainstem injury.

From the front, jam the pen into eys first. They are very richly sensory innervated,The pain is EXCRUIATING, not to metion the inabilty to see with either eye when one is is severly damaged. Second target is the neck (Adams Apple). You can't fight back if you can't breath. Third target is the Solar Plexus> A pencil held as described above will be driven directly into the heart.( Bye Bye bad guy)

From the side, drive the instrument as hard and as far as you can into assailant's ear. The point will also reach the Medulla, and put him down immediately. As a secondary effort, pull it out and jam it into the side of his neck. Obviously the carotid artery is the target.

No one will remember all of this, and no one will be able to do it all, but a half a dozen people with the courage to try will save many , many lives.

Have at me.

I was wondering if the coffee pots are still made of glass. Seems a shard could be pretty nasty.

Good for you. Now try these things on someone who has a letter opener to some poor girls throat. Only the passengers of the last plane knew what was going on, and they did act.

Like you said there are many ways. But you have to have the will and determination to make it work.Your head is also a weapon. On an airline with narrow aisle a running charge with head lowered into the gut will make almost anyone fall, just need the backup behind you to take care of the rest.Sorta like football realy.

uhh...yeah, as long as the guy stands there, all of the above will work great.

I've taken a couple of martial arts, never for more than a few months, but they all seemed to assume your opponent is just going to let you whale away- remember, boxers throw hundreds of thousands of punches during practice, but have a pretty low hit rate when they face a practiced opponent. If you practice your sophisticated moves for a long, long time, they may work great, but i think simple moves are best-

First guy-wrap the bad guy up in your arms and fall down. Second guy- come over the top, and gouge the bad guy's eyes out with your thumbs- go in at the tear ducts, all the way, and rip outward. If you can't get the eyes to acutally pop out, try to rip the tissue of the eye socket away from the eye orbit with your thumb nails. in either case, it will hurt, and limit his vision. Either passenger- get up, and stomp on bad guy's temple until it gets all squishy. kneel, pull his head back to expose his throat, and smash the hyoid bone (adam's apple) with a clenched fist, just in case. Repeat until threat is eliminated.

This isn't fighting, it isn't vigilantyism, nor is it vengeance; it is dynamic threat management.

it's not real complicated folks.

The element of surprize, the unexpected, is what makes it all work.

Well tracer I gotta tell ya,been there done that, you can't do nothin till ya get them on the ground first.I have seen many big guys toppled by small men with determination but it wasn't done toe to toe.

I have loaded my air pistol with flour and have had ten different people put the muzzle right on my chest at my heart. None were able to pull the tigger and "shoot me " before I could direct the muzzle away from my body and hit them (actually hit a box positioned beside their head). I ran some rather complicted reaction time studies when I was still practicing at being a dctor. : ) The intended victem has the advantage.

"...put the muzzle right on my chest at my heart."

good reason never to hold anyone at gun point, or to shoot anyone who, upon being told to halt, gets within 10 feet of you, 21 feet if you see a blade. Shoot early, shoot often.

One thing, however, if we assume we're doing this in an airplane, we're going to be channelized by the seats-"surprise" is going to be difficult to come by. i suspect it's going to take a "hi-diddle-diddle, right up the middle" approach. To whoever talked about getting 'em on the ground, yeah, makes sense- one guy plan on taking him down and absorbing the (almost certainly crippling and easily lethal) cuts, while the second guy disables the bad guy per above.

My point is everyone has the ability to take them out, rgardless of their age or strength. One person tryinhg will bring others into the frey. Just have the guts to fight back.

You have to have the guts to say "While you are killing her, I will be killing you." Do Not be intimidated.

I am a very easy going nice guy.

But if you threaten my country or those I love, you will be hurt very badly.

Agreed, but I would hope that you would not fracture your cervical vertebrae with a running head butt deflected onto a seat back or bulkhead.

Or find yourself sailing ass over tea kettle as a result of a fairly basic tactic against just such a head butt. Or catch an uppercut from a knife or knee, which, as you no doubt would agree, is the target of choice for putting a big or small guy irreversibly down.

And grappling is best done when you aren't stunned, blinded, or paralyzed. Much easier and safer to shear the patella downward as you hope upward and leading with your knees.

A splayed cabin blanket is also a nice touch that increases your margin of safety and range of options. Been there and done that is great and worthy of respect and gratitude, but it's far better to be able to be there and do that again on a scary day in the future. No offense intended.......
