Patience, patience: it takes a while to set up something this big 8,000 miles away in a forbidding place with no existing support lines, facing obvious opposition, and with an adversary that moves around a lot. The US has to get everything in place first to do it right. Recall that it took about six months to set up Desert Storm.

Yes, I know it well. But the difference is we were up against an entrenched enemy. Here they're dispersing more and more with every passing day.

The US has to get everything in place first to do it right.

I think they are setting things up for quick reaction strikes. Get the forces in place, have the troops sitting on a hair trigger and when intelligence pops up showing a viable target, hit it fast before the roaches have a chance to scurry back under the cabinets.
