Are your donations helping terrorism?
The Holy Land Foundation for Relief and Development is America's largest Islamic charity, with this food pantry in Paterson and a headquarters in Texas. According to the group's web site, the foundation raises six million dollars a year for things like schools and soup kitchens. And in the wake of the World Trade Center attacks, members even rolled up their sleeves and donated blood for the victims.
It all sounds very noble and the group is even in good standing with the Better Business Bureau. But a News 12 investigation has found the Holy Land Foundation may not be what it seems.
Law enforcement sources tell News 12, federal agents have questioned officials from the Holy Land Foundation and other Islamic charities about whether they were involved in funding the attacks on the World Trade Centers. Our investigation has also found the Holy Land Foundation has been linked to the Islamic terrorist group Hamas. And by the group's own admission, the Holy Land Foundation's pays monthly benefits to the widows and orphans of suicide bombers, bombers responsible for attacks on Americans and Israelis in the Middle East.
"They are an organization that supports terrorist activities by Hamas," said Shai Goldstein.
Shai Goldstein is director of New Jersey's office of the Anti-Defamation League. He says the Holy Land Foundation is nothing more than a front for terrorism.
"We support President Bush's position," added Goldstein. "You're either part of the solution or you're part of the problem. And the Holy Land Foundation is part of the problem."
Monday, President Bush froze the assets of 27 people and groups he said had ties to world terrorism. The Holy Land Foundation was not among them. But last summer, the group was dropped from the federal government's list of approved volunteer organizations after the state department said having Holy Land on the list was "contrary to the national defense and foreign policy interests of the United States."
We wanted to speak with officials from the Holy Land Foundation. We wanted to find out more about the group's charitable works. But no one would speak with us. Instead, they referred us to their attorneys in Washington D.C.
The attorneys refused to comment. But last summer, in one of the Holy Land Foundation's rare interviews with the internet magazine Salon.com, officials with the group spoke openly about their policies.
"Some of the orphans we are supporting are the children of Hamas martyrs," a man named Abdul-Rahman Odeh admitted. "But I have nothing to do with their fathers." He went on to say, "The kid shouldn't pay for the father's mistake."
But the Anti-Defamation League says even if the more serious charges against Holy Land Foundation are never proven, by paying the families of suicide bombers, the group is creating an incentive for terrorism.
To be clear, there is currently no evidence that links the Holy Land Foundation to the attacks on the World Trade Centers.

As you can see, some of these charities who are giving blood and falsely representing the Holy Land are actually supporting the families of suicide bombers!!
I told everybody not to give to the movie stars and their telethon. I hate those phonies. Already there is concern as to who is taking care of the money and to which organizations are they sending the money.
I certainly hope no freepers gave money to those phony actors.
If you are going to give, give to a real, licensed and registered charity like the Red Cross. I hope nobody gave money to the United Way. Why? Remember the Boy Scouts of America issue regarding the Dale (Gay) case. How soon we forget. Local councils are closing camps and laying off staff and reducing programs nationwide because the United Way is cutting off funding to the Scouts.
And the USA trained Osama in the 1980's

The possible linkage between the two was denied by both of them. If I recall correctly, a local reporter mentioned a family relationship betwenn the two. During the raid, and being hounded by reporters, the Owner of InfoCom fled thru the front door of the Holy Land Foundation.
The thrust of the investigation is unknown to me except to say that InfoCom hosts many Muslim websites.
Since WTC, their doors have been locked and no one answers.
