I am Outraged at Clear Channel... and you will be too...
Clear Channel Radio Network (540 WFLA)

Posted on 09/23/2001 4:51:09 PM PDT by jeffo

I am so mad I can hardly type. Forgive me if you don't consider this news, I hope an "old timer" like me can be forgiven an occasional vanity.

Today, Sunday, September 23, 2001, with the bodies of thousands of my fellow citizens and at least one friend still waiting to be unearthed, Clear Channel's Premier Radio Network broadcast a song which had patriotic clips from Bush's speech, news, reports, etc. chronicaling ths disaster.

The problem?

They set it to perhaps the most anti-American and anti-Democracy song ever written, John Lennon's "Imagine".

Don't get me wrong, Lennon was a giftedn musician and songwriter, several Beatles CDs are in my CD rack. But that particular song is to Marxism/Leninism what "Amazing Grace" is to Christianity. To have audio clips of Bush asking America to pray for the victims is the epitome of hypocracy. Consider these lyrics, in case you never did before:

Imagine there's no heaven, its easy if you try/No hell below us, above us, only sky/Imagine all the people living for today

and

Imagine there's no coutries, it isn't hard to do/ nothing to kill or die for, and no religion, too

I could go on, but you can look up the rest. Playing this song as a supposed tribute to the brave souls who died because they went to work that day, or ran into a burning tower to try to save people... and the brave men and women who will risk their lives and even give their lives in the coming months to wipe this terrorist scum off the planet...its not right. They should yank this abomination off of the air and apologize.

The Premier Radio Network's phone number is 818 377 5300, its left coast. I will be registering my complaint tommorow, I hope you will also if you feel as strongly about this as I do. Their web site is www.clearchannel.com

On the other hand, the only thing I bothered to watch during that idiotic fundraiser on Friday night was Neil Young doing Imagine.

I know, I know, he's not even American, he bashed the Southern man, and Imagineis pinko-commie crap, but Neil rocks.

Imagine if there was no religion, there would not be nutty towelheads flying airplanes into buildings while praising Allah.

It's easy if you try.

My boss smashed a radio with a sledge hammer one day. The song? Phil Collins' Susudia. He would probably do it for Imagine as well.

I know I would.

For anyone who has never read the lyrics by, John Lennon

Imagine there's no heaven
It's easy if you try
No hell below us
Above us only sky
Imagine all the people
Living for today...

Imagine there's no countries
It isn't hard to do
Nothing to kill or die for
And no religion too
Imagine all the people
Living life in peace...

You may say I'm a dreamer
But I'm not the only one
I hope someday you'll join us
And the world will be as one

Imagine no possessions
I wonder if you can
No need for greed or hunger
A brotherhood of man
Imagine all the people
Sharing all the world...

You may say I'm a dreamer
But I'm not the only one
I hope someday you'll join us
And the world will live as one

"You may say I'm a dreamer"

No $#!+, Sherlock.
We cannot share the world, until we "delete" the terrorist.
They do not want to share anything, not even their religion; they only want to kill.

By the way, you'll notice that John Lennon's "Imagine" was on that list of banned songs. Whoever did this could be in serious Corporate Hot Water. So keep after 'em :)

Imagine there's no liberals...
It's easy if you try...
Nothin to whine or beg for
Cause people are on to the lie...

Much better than the original lyrics!
