Pope John Paul has issued a dramatic appeal that the world not be allowed to slide into war following attacks on the United States and urged against a deepening of religious divisions.
"With all my heart I beg God to keep the world in peace," the Pope said on Sunday at the end of a mass for some 50,000 people on the first full day of his visit to Kazakhstan, a Central Asian republic which may be caught up in an eventual regional crisis.
"We must not let what happened lead to a deepening of divisions. Religion must never be used as a reason for conflict," he said, referring to tensions with some parts of the Islamic world following the attacks in New York and Washington.(snip)
NEGOTIATIONS, NOT WAR
On arrival in Kazakhstan on Saturday, Pope John Paul said all controversies between nations must be resolved by negotiations and dialogue, not force of arms.
The Pope, who aides say is losing sleep over the possibility of war, celebrated a mass that began with a stiff wind blowing in from Siberia over the flat steppes and ended in sunshine.

I understand that some here disagree with the Pope. That's fine. So do I, to some extent.
But lets face it, the thoght process that went into some of the posts on this thread went something along the lines of this:
Cletus: Hey Zeke! The Pope made a comment about dem dar terrorist events in the big city.
Zeke: Yeehaw, that's great Cletus, that gives us another chance to take potshots at the Pope.
Cletus: A'yup, it sure fie do! Say, wha's he wear that stupid hat anyways!
Zeke: Yuk yuk yuk !!! Dat war funny, let's finish this 12 of Ol' Milwaukee and get back to the meth lab in the basement.

Maybe. Who knows, maybe the Pope knows something of a non-earthly nature about this that we don't???????? There were things revealed at Fatima that were given only to the Pope but the other stuff is pretty frightening. I don't even remember it all because it would bother me too much to think about it.

Calling this pope naive is a stretch of anyone's imagination. He suffered through World War II.He is suffering now. So is the Body of Christ.I for one will pray more.

Pacifism did not cause the planes to fly into the buildings. Lack of security and awareness of the abilities and intentions of our enemies from the top down did. Our federal government was formed to prevent domestic terorism and the defend our country.

That's nice Fred, but it seems to contradict your Pope's statement about using only dialogue and negotiation (to me, at least).

I for one will pray more. Great, do that. That prayers of the righteous are effective (according to the Scriptures).

LOL----not me but if you ever read those predictions, you'd be a bit scared right now. The only thing I think Russia hasn't converted yet so it's not at a certain point in the prophecy.

As sure as the sun rises in the east, you are a bigot, just as much as those you rant against.
To: Fred
Hey, that's a different way to look at it! There's 30,000 times the truth as the Catholic Church has, I guess.

Now can we get back to the subject of the article (and try to stick to it)?
