With the pulse weapon they had better have alot of horses around. It is very clear in scriptures that horses will be on the battlefield of Armeggedon.

Excellent post, Hopalong. Thank you. It does bring to mind the following scripture, which I always thought was describing tanks of some sort. Correlates with how the US Cavalry used to be horses, but is now tanks.
Rev 9 [16] And the number of the army of the horsemen were two hundred thousand thousand: and I heard the number of them.
[17] And thus I saw the horses in the vision, and them that sat on them, having breastplates of fire, and of jacinth, and brimstone: and the heads of the horses were as the heads of lions; and out of their mouths issued fire and smoke and brimstone.
[18] By these three was the third part of men killed, by the fire, and by the smoke, and by the brimstone, which issued out of their mouths.
[19] For their power is in their mouth, and in their tails: for their tails were like unto serpents, and had heads, and with them they do hurt.

Pack animals. Excellent FLIR signatures. The Taliban protectors will be in our sights all winter, a long, dark, frightful winter. Simple IR, thermal imaging, and air support laser target painting technology will improve our aim, down their shirt collars.
Iraqi veterans with the Tabliban can attest to the Afghans' shattering fate. The "Highway of Death" may not be much more than a "barnyard of death" with some tanks and artillary pieces thrown in for a lasting monument too tribal suicide.
The Jihadocrats' warrior myths spun from the implosion of the Soviet forces will lead to a Darwinian mass extinction of some Arab and eastern Turkic tribal murderers. The slaughter should be as horrorifying as the blasphemy at WTC on 9/11/01.
This is a war of annihilation. Make it so.

Upon seeing the title, I smiled and thought "no one but Hopalong."

Look back at our struggle for freedom, trace our present day's strength to it's source and you'll find that our pathway to glory, is strewn with the bones of the horse.- anonymous

General Johnathan Wainwright said in 1953 that the US would be at a disadvantage using motorized vehicles and helicopters against a primitive enemy living in mountainous regions. He advocated the keeping of at least one cavalry division and artillery mounted on horseback or mules. Wainwright, the last US combat cavalry commander, thought it folly for the US to unhorse the cavalry. Afghanistan is that place that General Wainwright predicted. Cavalry or mounted infantry could move in bad weather where helicopters and the air force could not even get off the ground. The mountain roads of Afghanistan are not passable by anything except horseback and on foot. It would be good for Americans to learn more of the terrain and customs of the Afghanis and their national game of Bushkashish.
