BUMP back.
Build it and they will come...just ask, Gettysburg. ;-)
The others have cell phone conversations indicating their direct involvement. To date, there are five, three men and two women (one a flight attendant).
A monument to the heroes of flight 93 is certainly in order!
LET'S ROLL!!
Another national monument so that the Federal government can own more land?
How about reverting some of the lands in the western states back into private property.
These people, through acts of bravery under adverse conditions, saved more lives than we'll ever know.
We Americans have given our blood, we've given our money, and, God knows we've paid the taxes to bail everything out under the sun. Some more will even give their lives. We Americans have shown to ourselves and the world that we come through in times of crisis.
It will be much more meaningful if We Americans do this.
This site would be motre in keeping with what National Monuments ourght to be. it is my understanding that the mining company owns the land and is willing to donate it ... probably a few acres.
Build a really nice memorial there with a granite or marble mounument with all of their names on it, highlighting those who took action.
build a visitor center detailing the entire Day of INfamy and how the actions of these few saved hundreds ... maybe thousands.
Perhaps have a campground there.
That's what we're talking about here.
I believe it is more than warranted .. so we always remember what price liberty is purchased at.
It is "We the people" doing it when it happens that way, and is one of the few things that I am willing to be concede to Federal upkeep and maintenance, or at least funds for.
In this case, I believe that the longevity of it will more secured in this fashion.
Anyhow, that's how I fee.
The large National Monumnets of millions of acres set aside by Clinto were nothing more than Federal land grabs and perversions of the simple principle I speak of.
It is socialism. It is "We The People" doing "something", whether we want to or not. Suppose I would rather take that money that the government would need to take from me, and send it directly to a relief effort or one of the MANY other causes, which have formed, or geared up as a result of this tragedy? Why should someone be forced to give to your "pet" cause?
How would you feel if the Arab community wanted the government to spend money on a monumnet devoted to the Arabs who have unjustly suffered persecution after this terrorist attack?
I would be outraged, I can tell you. The same faulty logic is still there, no matter how nobel your cause is relative to whatever...
I am not trying to insult you, just make it clear that your reasoning is faulty.
"In this case, I believe that the longevity of it will more secured in this fashion."
"The large National Monumnets of millions of acres set aside by Clinto were nothing more than Federal land grabs and perversions of the simple principle I speak of."
They are the same thing, just matters of degrees.
I honestly applaud your desire AND your obviously pure motive. I just reject the mechanics on how to get there.
