I posted this to two homeland defense threads, but I think enough people are eventually going to be interested in this as planning kicks in and legislation is drafted to know what exactly "Homeland Defense" is, where that phrase came from and what commission report served as a blueprint.
I apologize if someone has posted these links before. I remember a terrorism research link thread but was unable to find it.

Homeland Defense Workshops A nationally accepted definition of Homeland Defense does not currently exist, and is often a topic of debate. The potential scope of Homeland Defense is so immense that our approach for the first half of 2000 is to host a series of threat-specific workshops designed to help narrow the focus to those significant areas needing immediate attention. The workshops engage leading thinkers from government, industry, and academia in the fields of counter chemical, biological, radiological, nuclear and cyber-terrorism analysis, strategy, policy, and operations. This report documents findings from the first in this series of workshops, held on 11 February 2000. The initial daylong workshop utilized a transnational scenario in which U.S. facilities were attacked with a biological agent that could effectively disperse throughout both military and civilian communities. The objective of the workshop was to step through the US Government processes and activities required to successfully prevent, deter and detect a biological attack against United States territory. It focused on a very specific, plausible type of threat in order to encourage new thinking and stimulate discussion and debate about observable activities associated with a terrorist strike. |

Absolutely primo job of putting it all together! Thank you, Testforecho!
Joan Veon sounds rational & explains her info is based on years of actual reporting from 'the field' as a credentialed press member. Even if she has embelished some points, no conspiracy need exist to see the mutually beneficial policies of these huge organizations ( in concert with the G-7 governments ) to bring about circumstances they desire. International corp's are whole 'nother facet of this. The World Bank, IMF, Trans-nationals, our Fed, the EU, & countless banks do, of course, hold the economic levers of the world's economy. I was really asking in last reply if anyone was aware of some these points, with her work in mind! I hope your reference has brought her to the attention of many.
So many who view this line of thought as silly & over-reaching, may react with personal attacks, & surely as economies develop, more international relationships and legal structure must follow. In order to please the highly educated ivy-leaguers, 'moderate', 'middle of the roaders' & the 'can't we all just get along' crowd, I should be well pleased to veneer my ten-gallon Stetson with copious amounts of tin or aluminium foil & wear it everywhere I go. I am, however, certain of the evil potential these org's have, and power, once acquired, is not relenquished voluntarily. Governments live on money & power. How nice that we in the US are driving such a productive economic machine ( that we literally pull the entire & quite stupified socialist world behind us, even with our 50%+ tax burden yet ) & now a more perfectly 'secure' legal mechanism for our further social control has been convieniently unvieled ( to 'save us' from the evil terror of maniacal religeous zealots ). I find the authors of this HOMELAND plan almost as interesting as the details ( which are very predictable ). With apologies to my 10th grade German teacher, Wilkommen to zie Fatherland!
