SPECIAL EDITION

Tonight, the citizens of the United States and people throughout the world saw a man with passion, principle, and resolve, lead a united effort in the war on terrorism. In a speech being hailed as one of the best modern era speeches ever given, President George W. Bush spoke to a joint session of Congress regarding the attack on America. The President outlined just who the war on terrorism is against, but also revealed specifics as to who they are and what they stand for. He also powerfully reiterated that the United States and countries united with us will not stand for actions like this any longer. In one of the strongest statements in his speech, the President said, 'Either you are with us or you are with the terrorists', surely a outward warning to those who are waivering in their decision to join us in this war.

After the President's 40+ minute speech, the standard opposition party response was also historic for it was not an opposing view, but a stand with each other as one united front of principle and resolve.

Enjoy this very special edition of the daily dose of Dubya!

I'm so grateful he got a good full month's vacation recently. Something tells me he isn't going to be seeing much of his beloved ranch for awhile. Lord bless him, Laura and the girls. They certainly need all our prayers.

And THANKS for the great photos!

Thanks for the pics, RWP!

As I told some friends tonight, we are watching our President grow and evolve as a man and a leader before our very eyes. This was his finest hour (so far, I expect many more to come).

President Bush:

This morning
I woke up with this feeling
I didn't know how to face it
And so I just decided to myself
I'd hide it to myself
and never talk about it,
and didn't I go and shout it when
they showed you on tv
"I THINK I LOVE YOU!"

JulieRNR21, I just wanted to say that I love the picture you posted!

Rintense, thanks for these pictures Of President Bush. A local news-station for NY keeps referring to him as Mr. Bush, and the current administration. They should re-think their practice of doing this, especially now. I think it speaks volumes that the same station refers to that sleaze clinton as prez. and former prez. To all of the media- It's Mr. President, or President Bush! I just wanted them to know that I'm still paying attention to their nonsense, and that I want them to show President Bush the respect that he deserves.

How wonderful to see these pictures after watching the speech again early this morning. They show the emotion that could not be seen as clearly on TV.

I am so grateful for President Bush. I have NEVER heard a speech that equaled the one he gave last night. Tears rolled down my cheeks last night; and this morning, the tears were even greater.

Thank you, Lord.

I resolved to say only 'President Bush' a few weeks ago because of the media disrespect. Many of them never acknowledged the he IS the President.
I would love to be able to say "Mr President" someday (And shake his hand.)

On a lighter note, I heard Chuck Schumer say to a reporter last night "I have had the chance to meet with him several times this week..." -- It struck me that meeting with the president is now considered something to brag about.

To: rintense, all
Thank you once again for this daily thread and your commitment to show the world (any fortunate enough to find Free Republic) our President Bush.

How could any man do what President Bush did last night? Can you imagine the pressure that was upon him? It's more than any human being can be called upon to bear....in their own strength. Surely, God was with President Bush and with Laura Bush in tangible, visible ways last night, upholding them both, giving clarity and strength to both of them through that incredible speech....and the long walking in and walking out which had to also be difficult. What we also saw was a man with self-discipline, self-control, and one with a job to do and one who was doing it superbly.

I am very happy that Governor Ridge is now by our President's side on his cabinet. When all this began, I said, Governor Ridge needs to be involved in helping our country at this time. I don't know why I said that - because I know some do not like his views on all things. But something about Governor Ridge - including especially his great loyalty to and friendship with President Bush, qualities our President must have right now - just made me yearn for him to be right there in the White House helping.

Now he will be!

I was also so very glad he did not end with the now somewhat tired (though still true) phrase: God bless America. I don't remember now what he said at the end - something like God be with America or something like that. Basically the same sentiments as God bless America, yet somehow whatever the exact phrase was it conveyed to me his genuine faith and trust in the God upon whom we must all depend for our sure refuge and strength at this time of our greatest danger as a nation. It was more than just rote words - it expressed truth.

Was watching the horrible Diane Sawyer this morning with a group of soldiers and citizens who were asked for their comments on the speech. It was entirely obvious that she was hunting for criticisms!!!!!! One Arab American young man said that he appreciated what President Bush said in that he addressed the fact that Arab Americans are American citizens who must not be discriminated against, etc, etc, etc. He liked the fact that this war is not against Arab-Muslim people. Diane Sawyer then said - but did he say everything you wanted him to say on this? The young man (I bet) had been primed to spout criticism - and that's why he was there. But now, on camera, he agreed with his "Coach" Sawyer - "the speech didn't say everything I wanted him to say on this subject...." (but then his true thoughts came out...thank God!)...."but he had so many subjects to cover ...he did a good job."

The best response was from a black American serviceman who has been working in the rubble of NYC. He said something to this effect:

"I listened to this speech as coming from my Commander in Chief. After working in the rubble, I will never forget what I have seen there - continue to see these images every time I close my eyes. I have seen that the people who did this to us are willing to die for their beliefs. President Bush was making clear that Americans, and our members of our armed forces, are ready to give our lives for freedom!"

Diane Sawyer, no doubt, wished she had not brought that fine young man before the cameras. He exemplified what all Americans should be understanding and considering. Are we, indeed, willing to give our lives to preserve our freedom? The days ahead will tell.

Finally (and I apologize for this long commentary - I don't post much so when I do I pack it in)....my husband who doesn't make many comments on our country or our political wars said this last night: He looks very strong and determined. I needed to see that.

All America needed to see that. We did. Thank you, Mr. President. Thank you to the team that helped you put the needed words into that speech and for your refinement and presentation of them and the truths they represented. And thank you, dear God, for giving our President the strength in word and appearance and in will that will help lead us through this dark night. In truth, all America must seek and learn what we saw clearly evidenced in our President's speech last night: the total reliability of our God to strengthen and help us and to carry us through whatever lies ahead.

Chuck Schumer wants to bask in the glow of President Bush, and his popularity. What a difference a few months make! LOL! I notice Hitlery is still everything I expect her to be, alot of dirty words that I can't type here. ;-)

Great suggestion. I remember going to a Browns game where they sold the "Huck Fouston" t-shirts outside old Cleveland Stadium. Perhaps we could some of our Clevelanders to start this up ;-) Can't give any good college slogans, the two Catholic univerisities I went to were far less subtle in their choice of t-shirt slogans (to put it this way, we never used the "H").

Thanks for the great pics. I missed the speech (volleyball) but heard the last ten minutes driving home. Got to hear him talk about the badge and it was moving even without the visual. Thank God we have him as our leader in our time of need.

Our President has done one fabulous job in the face of such horror. The very best part is that he has bonded with the American people and even some of his biggest detractors are coming around. They're finally seeing what we've seen all along.

BTW, did anyone see him wink, I think to Laura? Was I seeing things??

Thank you again for these wonderful pictures! I wanted to share something my husband read to me the night before last. He is reading (again) Powwow Highway by David Seals. At one point during Philbert's drive to Santa Fe he and his crew stop a what had been Red Cloud's Agency. Unspeakable horrors had happened there but now this is what they found...

"But it was a place of supreme peace now, because it had once been a place of utter anguish. No more evil could even penetrate into this hallowed ground, for evil had purged itself from here with its own foul breath. Like a suicidal cannibal, it had eaten itself whole."

Dear friends, I submit to you that the World Trade Center itself has become hallowed ground and we will see evil eat itself whole.

And it seems everyone agrees that Hillary! was a real pill tonight. Just what is her problem anyway?

She just cant fake Dubya's selfless patriotism. She's become utterly useless during the most important historical event during her lifetime. She's been reduced to forcing her face into photos where she has no purpose, and realizes how desperate she looks. All her favorite causes have lost their strength, and now good old fashioned patriotism has becaome (gasp) the new policially correct stance. The nation now has a true hero, and he's a God fearing, honest Republican.
