Tampa Channel 8 to Not Allow On-Screen Personalities to Wear Red, White, Blue Ribbons
MJ Morning Show, Tampa, FL
| 9/20/01
| MJ Kelly, On-Air Radio Personality, WFLZ 93.3

My wife just informed me that MJ Kelly, of the MJ Morning Show, broadcast in Tampa and St. Louis, just stated that Tampa's television Channel 8 (an NBC affiliate) has forbidden their on-air tv personalities to wear red, white, and blue ribbons, because they're (the station) going to question Bush's actions.
Has anyone else heard this?

************ OPERATION INFINITE FReedom ****************
Also known as the war on the PC police and the left.
Email and fax to the morons listed:
Subject: Congradulations! IF we had known you wanted to be made an ass of on national radio & TV, why didn't you say so on your newscasts last night?
Text: Friends, Romans, Countrymen. What we have here is a typical leftist failure to communicate. I apologize if you run out of fax paper. Hell, I apologize if we hurt your feelings. Well, maybe I don't. It's fun to watch a tree-hugging hippy freak with some authority self destruct on the national scene. Not only will you get your 15 minutes of fame for being another of the "Politically Correct" retard crowd, you will be mocked, joked about and made fun of the remainder of this war. WE WILL SEE TO THAT. So please, make public appearances. Go shopping to the store. But if people snicker "there's the loser" don't blame us. WE want to make sure that you think YOUR political point of view is more important than showing support for our soldiers...who have not even fired a shot yet.
AFTER all if this was a civil rights ribbon, or AIDS ribbon, or peace ribbon, I'm sure you would make your employees wear that.
May you think about your decision as all 6000 funerals are held.

Careful with your choice of words. Do you mean "send them so much email their server MIGHT crash", or do you mean "hack their network and sabotage their system, in violation of State law that makes computer sabotage a felony." ????
I suggest that you clarify that.
Now Freep the PC bastard who came up with this.

Yesterday Fox reported that MCCI was taking NCCI's heat for this and asked for people not to hit MCCI. They never said that the error was theirs (it wasn't) and neither did I. They always reported that it was NCCI. My guess is that some people heard the name and started the campaign on MCCI without checking.

"But then somebody said, "You never saw Edward R. Murrow wearing a ribbon (during World War II).' That decided it for me."No one ever wondered whose side Edward R. Murrow was on.

Thanks guys. I e-mailed everyone on the list with following: Is it true that your station has issued an edict prohibiting the display of red white and blue, or American flags by your newscasters? If so, I am sure your policy will change some time today. Assuming this to be true, be prepared for an avalanche of messages protesting this ultra-tolerant posture. Let's hope it's not true. After all, this is your country too, isn't it? Mission Viejo, CA

Being against this War (WWIII?) is unpatriotic! People have freedom of speech, but they better keep there damn mouth shut if they are going against the 90% of Americans who want to eliminate this menace.

As a youth, I recall television stations had a 2 minute spot where citizens could respond to the station's editorial. That practice is long gone. Those responses were aired in order to comply with what was called the "Fairness Doctrine." Equal time was required when a broadcast station expressed a viewpoint.
That "Doctrine" was repealed some years ago, which paved the way for, and made possible, the conservative talk shows of today, like Rush Limbaugh.
Those shows would not have been possible with that law in place.
It's a good thing.

Amen brother. With ABC and CNN on their soon to be nonstop peace protest coverage, we need to lay into this PC movement every chance we get.
