I wonder how they were going to use the amblulences and the fire trucks? Maybe to gain access to places they normally wouldn't be allowed in?

That's what I heard--load 'em up with bombs and drive 'em into secured areas.

A report I read earlier said they might steal fire engines and drive them, as high-speed bombs, into ground targets.

A fire truck filled with gasoline would be a formidable weapon against unarmed civilians. Like their planning book states "Why attack a tiger (military) when there are so many sheep (unarmed civilians)?" These cowards would likely spray gasoline on a hosptal, or daycare in the name of Allah.

Maybe it's time for me to take my pistol out of the nightstand, and carry it in my glovebox.

Probably something more like:

Suppose there's a big explsosion/fire/shooting somewhere.
Rescuers/police/media/gawkers arrive on the scene.
Then an ambulance loaded with ANFO and ball bearings slowly rolls toward the crowd......

You get the picture.

The word "were" is inoperative. Substitute "are" per the warning.

They said down here ambulances and firetrucks could be useful to gain access to military bases. firetrucks, having large tanks onboard and the means of dispersal, could beused for a very different kind of terrorism. I'm surprised they weren't looking for access to tanker trucks as well.

Authorities also have flown to New York a French-Algerian man who was detained last month after he sought flight training in Minnesota. The school where he offered to pay for the training was suspicious, and called authorities. The government has held Zacarias Moussaoui on immigration charges since Aug. 17.

Two weeks before Tuesday attacks, agents had already gathered evidence tracing Moussaoui to an effort to get flight training as early as fall 2000 in Norman, Okla., officials said.

At least one of the flight schools noticed something funny.

If there was a plane crash or the like, what type of vehicle would be waved through police lines without a second thought? Thus what's the perfect vehicle for a follow-up attack designed to kill rescue personel?

My guess would be as a follow up truck bomb to an already bombed site. Terrorists usually like to do a double hit so that would-be rescuers are also killed. Its supposed to make would-be rescuers think twice about attempting to help victims....

Perhaps fill the fire trucks with gasoline instead of water and drive them into targets? FEMA probably already provided them with US government surplus fire engines.
