I wonder how they were going to use the amblulences and the fire trucks? The word "were" is inoperative. Substitute "are" per the warning.

Well, the way the feds (read National Security establishment) is treating small aircraft, you would think the goons are going to use small Cessnas to blow up the world. If you haven't heard yet, all VFR aircraft (which for the most part means small single engine planes) have been grounded for 8 days now. Presumably, the Feds are going to "allow" some to start flying in a day or two, but they sure aren't in a hurry about it. Meanwhile, all of the small aviation related businesses are dying, hundreds of pilots are stranded across the country, and our constitutional right to travel through the air is being held hostage by irrational fears.

Suppose there's a big explsosion/fire/shooting somewhere. Rescuers/police/media/gawkers arrive on the scene. Then an ambulance loaded with ANFO and ball bearings slowly rolls toward the crowd...... You get the picture.
Unfortunately yes. Look at the WTC, they timed the collapse so that they could kill all those rescuers.....

The FBI has meticulously pieced together a broad terrorist plot, securing evidence the hijackers trained for months or years without raising suspicions in the United States, received financial and logistical support from others and identified additional targets for destruction. Grist for the mill once the Libertarian threads start up again.

I expect the terrorists will abandon the 'airplane bomb' approach. We need to begin now looking for other techniques that they'll use. I saw the FBI alert today to be aware of theft of fire trucks and ambulances, that's smart. Be suspicious of all these mid-eastern types. (Screw the PC police)

I agree and we let them know in advance that we are using swine, pork fat rubbed onto our bombs. We might prevent a few disasters, and ruin thei game plan!

They said down here ambulances and firetrucks could be useful to gain access to military bases. firetrucks, having large tanks onboard and the means of dispersal, could beused for a very different kind of terrorism. I'm surprised they weren't looking for access to tanker trucks as well.
Authorities also have flown to New York a French-Algerian man who was detained last month after he sought flight training in Minnesota. The school where he offered to pay for the training was suspicious, and called authorities. The government has held Zacarias Moussaoui on immigration charges since Aug. 17.
Two weeks before Tuesday attacks, agents had already gathered evidence tracing Moussaoui to an effort to get flight training as early as fall 2000 in Norman, Okla., officials said.
At least one of the flight schools noticed something funny.

>>>We owe a debt of gratitude to the air traffic controllers and pilots who acted so swiftly to get all other planes out of the air as quickly as they did. This may have prevented at least one more attack.<<<
And to the man who made a quick decision....the right decision......George W Bush!!!!!!!!!!!

I believe with the damage of one dam, the course of the Mississippi River could be changed and shut down all shipping up that river. (Which is substancial) If this dam is blown, the Mississippi River would completely by pass New Orleans. Just one of many possible terrorists targets. Keep your eyes open friends.

"our constitutional right to travel through the air" Hmmmmm. I admire our forefathers so much for their foresight. I didn't know the constitution gave us the right to fly! Amazing! Thanks for the lesson on the constition.

If there was a plane crash or the like, what type of vehicle would be waved through police lines without a second thought? Thus what's the perfect vehicle for a follow-up attack designed to kill rescue personel?

You've been reading Clive Cussler. Dirk Pitt to the rescue!!

A football stadium is my fear and my suspicion.
Maybe a college game, to strike at our education system as well.
But more likely, an NFL game, with it's corporate interests, and some symbolic names (the Jets play the Patriots this weekend, for example).

"You've been reading Clive Cussler. Dirk Pitt to the rescue!!" Nope. I got it from a FReeper ('gulfcoast6') on another thread earlier today.

Given the possibility that secondary explosions brought the towers down it's at least feasible that additional explosives were carried in with the initial wave of firefighters.
