PATRIOTIC THREAD: Who Are the Good Companies.....Who Are the Scum?
dfu | 9-19-01 | dfu

Posted on 09/19/2001 12:20:37 PM PDT by doug from upland

On this thread, and perhaps succeeding ones, I hope we can chronicle those companies that show patriotism and those who are scum and do not deserve our business.

Here's the good news. God Bless the folks at both Sears and FedEx. They have pulled support from POLITICALLY INCORRECT for the outrageous statements of Bill Maher.

Give us your good and bad stories here. Thanks.

Note: what was the company who at first denied the displaying of flags in cubicles and then changed its mind?

Interesting that you should say that. Yesterday I conducted an impromptu survey of fast food restaurants in my area. Wendy's, Captain D's, Pizza Hut, McDonald's, Dairy Queen, Long John Silvers, and Sonic all had messages on their marquees supporting the USA while also using either the word "God" or "prayers". Arby's had a message that said something like "Support Our Troops" and Burger King had no message at all (except "1.99 Whopper").

Sprint PCS donated 2000 phones and the phone service to the rescue efforts in New York and 300 phones to the efforts in DC. They also donated 400 phones to the Red Cross in those areas to aid in their relief effort.

Sorry, but Walt would be turning in his grave if he could what they have done to his company, including GAY DAY at Disneyland.

I know doug, but I still own alot of stock in Disney. Too afraid to sell it and reinvest it because the capital gains tax would shred me.

The Starbucks in my building says the company has donated $1,000,000. They are collecting funds from customers in all stores too.

K Mart for running full page ads in major newspapers with an American flag to cut out and put up. Mine is in my station wagon rear window. This was GREAT, it was so uplifting to see this huge flag in the paper after reading all the sad stories of those killed at the Pentagon.

There's a dividing line here, friends, between those who support our country and civilization and those who prefer the rule of the bully and the barbarian. Perhaps the only good thing about this is we will find out who our enemies are: and if they're businesses, whatever they do after their perfidy is publicized, we MUST NEVER PATRONIZE them again!

BioComp Systems, an artificial intelligence software development company in Redmond, WA is a very patriotic company. All of its employees back the USA 1000%. They are giving some revenues (whatever it is they can afford) to charities, and have likely decorated the office like a 4th of July celebration.

I'M A HOMEFRONT SOLDIER

I'm a homefront soldier
Today I'm standing tall
Taking on all traitors
I'll fight them one and all

My weapons will be email
The telephone and pen
I'm a homefront soldier
Until this war we win

Foreign or domestic
No enemy will I spare
I'm a homefront soldier
And I will do my share

Good companies; good country: Ireland.

We were touring in Ireland at the time of the crisis, and everywhere we went, shopkeepers, hotelkeepers, waitresses, entertainers, museum guards, and ordinary people came up to us and expressed their condolences.

All of the shops, businesses, towns displayed our flag and half staff. Our folded flag, along with a folded Irish flag and a EMT kit was presented at the offeratory at a special Mass of condolence at the Galway Cathedral attended by all of the political leaders of Galway and the recent past president of Ireland, Mary Robinson.

Feel free to buy your Waterford, folks. Every craftsman at the factory conveyed his condolences.

We never heard a harsh word until we reached our own shores.

Add to your list of scummy colleges my Alma Mater, UC Berkeley. At least their voice, The Daily Californian, is for their editorial supporting Rep. Barbara Lee's lone vote against taking action against the terrorists. May she rot in Hell with the Daily Cal's editorial board.
