It is not always easy or fun sitting at a computer for hours and hours monitoring these threads. Every person here is a VOLUNTEER. As a matter of fact, we pay to do this. We spend days and weeks helping to keep FreeRepublic running.
Ask yourself these questions:
Where is the first place I go to get my news?
Am I getting any benefit from FreeRepublic?
Am I learning from FreeRepublic?
FreeRepublic is not free. It costs Jim Robinson tens of thousands of dollars to keep this forum running. There are over 60,000 registered users on FreeRepublic and only 1,000 help keep this forum running regularly. Those who do not have the ability to donate money could help by stopping by and giving a bump. Those who who do have the means and have not contributed, you should be ashamed of yourselves. You are a FReeploader.
We do not want to see this forum dead, therefore, we are asking that you help keep FreeRepublic running.
If everyone who registered donated one measly dollar a month, we would never have to have a fundraiser again.

You guys ROCK!! I mean seriously! LOL!
Like you I am retired on social security. I give through my credit card once a monty, it is hard as money is tight, but I would never want to be without FreeRepublic.
So I will go and increase my donation by 1/2 and figure out a way to make it up someplace else.
I try not to post too much as I a little to the ratical side on some issues, but I read many threads in the course of a day. It gives me new ways to view issues when I read the many ways people look at them.

I guess from some of your and 2ndMost's posts that you did not get badly flamed. That's strange because I have been flamed for much gentler language. Maybe it's better to just spit it out

At this, of all times in my lifetime, I would like nothing more than to be able to read these threads and reply to them. I have much I would like to say.
BUT, I cannot!
Why?
Because I am trying hard to raise the finances needed to keep FreeRepublic up and running so that we can continue to share valuable information and respond to it.
